1. Pioneer DVD Recorder With TiVo
Pioneer's brand-new DVR-810H-S integrates a DVD burner into a 102-hour TiVo Series2 that's easy to use and feature-laden. Along with regular TiVo functions, such as pausing live TV, reversing, and recording up to 102 hours of television, you can burn up to six hours of your favorite TV shows to a disc. You'll never have to delete a recorded show again!

Where'd those extra 20 hours come from? Last I looked, it's an 82 hour unit.

Someone please send this to my "loved" ones so I don't appear pushy or greedy.

There's a lot of drawbacks here.
Actually, this unit brought me to this community and has answered a lot of my questions, which as of 2 weends ago, were almost overwelming!!!
Choice:
Pay $1100 for this TiVo unit
OR
Buy the a DVD-recorder with a built-in HD for $480.00
HMMM???

You can get it for around $700 if you shop around, or you can wait til prices go down a bit more.
A seperate DVD recorder and TiVo can't do what an integrated TiVo/DVD recorder can do.
And needless to say, a DVD recorder with built in HD ain't a TiVo. You can't fool us into thinking that some dumb digital VCR is a TiVo, cause it ain't. Not by a long shot.
You really do need to use a TiVo for a while to "get" it. If TiVo were just a digital VCR, it would be nice, but not very revolutionary.

Leo said something about the less expensive version - the 810 - not having Firewire ports; this confused me a bit. Did Leo mean to imply that the more expensive version - the 57H - does have Firewire ports? I don't think it does, but Leo put it in such a way that one might think that it would.

From what I've read, the 810H and 57H are almost identical. The 57H is black, has 120 hours instead of 80 hours, presumably has better components, has a longer warranty.
As far as I know, the back planes are identical (the connections in the rear)
