Duplicate Instances of show in Now Playing

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok this is freaky-weired.

I am recording an NBA Basketball game now (NETS on YES). Now Playing duplicated the entries - I now have 2 folders containing the same NBA games I previously recorded AND the one I am currently recording. If I play either version, it starts from the same point I paused the other version.

The top folder (date sorted) is named after an auto-record wishlist (NBA...NETS &...). The other folder is named NBA Basketball.

I have three wish lists which have this game, but only one is auto-record.

There are no Season Passes for this game, except the auto-record WL entry.

To Do shows one copy of the game recording.

Recording History has no entries for the current game.

Go figure!

I don't have folders, but I have read here that it is possible to have two folders with entries for the same show. Obviously, the show is only recorded once. Others may be able to give you details of why this happens.

If I turn folders off, I get one entry for each recording.

When I turn folders back on, the Dups reappear as before.

This happens because we have 'groupings' not 'folders.'
I don't know the exact cause of the duplicate entries on your NP list - my guess is that the show title changed somehow from one game to the next, but the show ID is the same, so two groups got created.

If you want to replicate this behavior, grab a show from Suggestions, set it to KUID, which will pull it into your NP list. If you have more than one of these shows, It will have its own folder in the NP list, along with all the other occurrences of that show, but they'll also all appear in the Suggestions folder - even the KUID one.

A good thing to be aware of if you're using Suggestions as a FSI, but also have some shows in your NP List.

One folder is for the wishlist. The other is the title folder.

There is an earlier thread about this:

When you have a Season Pass for a show it will appear in a single folder.

When you have a WishList for a show it will double up in Now Playing with a Wishlist icon and folder icon. The same items are in both folders but in one you will see the Show Title and the other will show the Show Name.

I have the same thing happen with my Figure Skating wishlist. A Wishlist icon and a folder icon with episodes in both places. This weekend in fact I will have 4 episodes (8 hours) in both folders. My question would be how many hours is this taking up on my Tivo? Is it just eight hours or since it is doubling up in two folders is it taking up sixteen hours? I never know how to count those and since I"m running short on space I'd really like to know.

OK, this is interesting...

I deleted the earlier show (there were 2 NBA games both in both folders.) Now there is only the WL folder with the single remaining game.

The old game was from before I used a wishlist.

This is odd behavior. I could understand TiVo not combining the two games because they were recorded differently, but its odd instead to put both under both folders.

No big deal...its just odd.

It's only taking 8 hours. Both of the show listings are pointers to the same data.
