I love these old things and couldn't come up with a ARWL or other device of getting TiVo to pick up these. Comments welcome.

It's just not the same. When I was a kid it was so cool to see holiday specials on network TV night after night. There was nothing better than seeing the rainbow colored "special" logo spinning across the screen on CBS just before each show started. The York Peppermint Patty commercials weren't so bad either.

Ah, this is why I found so few of these last year... They start showing them at thanksgiving. I checked mid December last year, and had VERY few hits.
All hail weymo! All hail weymo!

I still wish there was a good way to get a wishlist on this. I'd love to be able to add the stars, the tv content rating and the original airdate fields into the wishlist parameters.

Children/Holiday would be the right category. Unfortunately, selecting Children/Holiday currently results in a bunch of holiday non-child programs.

That's because once you get to the category "Holiday", it is just "Holiday" and not a sub category of Children. That's the trouble with mosth of their categories. There are multiple ways to get to the same category, which leads you to believe that the path matters. You can also get Interests/Holiday, which is equivalent.
Which is why Children/Animated doesn't really just get you children's shows either. It is just Animated, which can be anything animated.

Actually, sometimes the path does matter (e.g., Movies/Docudrama vs. Drama/Docudrama). Obviously, in this case, it doesn't or has minimal impact. And, as you wrote, adult animation still appears under Children/Animated (which I, too, posted about, long, long ago.)

"The Year Without a Santa Claus," which should be on ABC Family several times in the upcoming month.

I always liked that one, with the little girl singing "I'll have a blue Christmas without you." Does anyone know if that song was an original, created for the special, or was it around and popular prior to the special?

It was an older song, performed most notably by Elvis...he had a number one hit with it in 1964, which was 10 years before that special was made.
The "Heat Miser" and "Snow Miser" songs, though, were originals. :D

There was a claymation Christmas special hosted by 2 dinosaurs. The California Raisins were involved in it (if I remember correctly) and one of the songs was "Here we go a'waffling". Does anyone know the title and if and when it will be shown? No, I'm not making this up.
Thanks,
lowbeam

Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas Celebration. I'd love to see this one again. I always sing "here we go a a' waffling" this time of year. Alas, it doesn't appear to be showing anywhere, and I don't think it's available on DVD.

Thanks nataylor,
Every year I look for that show and never find it. At least now I know the title.

That little dance bettwen the cold and hot guy is a classic. It has got to be my favorite of all time. That is the same one where Ms. Clause was down from the Pole too right? She was actually doing something in this particular show right?

Here it is on amazon.com
If you wanted to pick one up for me for finding it when you buy yours, I won't complain :)

I purchased the Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas DVD for my wife, and while she was happy to be able to see the show again, the DVD was disappointing.
I can understand the video and audio being a bit weak since older, "made-for-TV" show, and there was no remastering involved, but they didn't even bother to make the audio the same level between the three shows (it includes a Halloween and Easter show). I think it was in the Easter show, the audio fades in and out between loud and barely audible.

Times will vary depending on your timezone. These are just the next showings; many have multiple airings scheduled (especially on Fox Family). So if you see a title you like, search for it on your TiVo.

I have to wonder about the religious implications of a Pac-Man Jesus.
Anyway, to get you in the mood, here's the old CBS Special Presentation jingle (Real audio).

Man! I am so mad that I missed a Charlie Brown Christmas. I guess I will have to wait until next year!

Three letters: D-V-D. I got a three pack, with "It's the Great Pumpkin" and "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving".
