I bought a used Series2 Tivo thinking that it has a lifetime subscription. When I called up Tivo support to tranfer it to my name, I was told that it has an annual subscription (and not a lifetime subscription). I didn't realize that Tivo had an annual subscription service? Anyone know more about this?

I believe annual service used to cost about the same as 10 months under monthly. They removed that option for new TiVos some time ago. Perhaps because people who could come up with 10 months in advance realized it was even better to come up with 20 months and pay lifetime. (Or maybe they were just confusing people with too many options.) As I recall, even when annual was available, relatively few people mentioned it here.

If you thought you bought lifetime and got annual, then you got a much worse deal than you thought.

Sounds like you may have been defrauded
