Upgrade Question

I was wondering. I think I wanted more than my now 80 gigs on my series 2 Pioneer dvdr 810h (or whatever it's called). So from reading the install on weeknees.com I gather that you just plug the new hard drive in and the Tivo automatically will format the drive for you? Nothing else to do?
Will you need to redo your setup afterwards?
I also have another question. What if I took the hard drive that is in there out - including all the programs I recorded. Could I - after swapping a new drive of the same size - at a later date, re-install the original drive to watch the programs previously stored.
I hope this isn't borderline extraction violation. As I only want to use the video through the tivo, but swap hard drives if one gets too full. Can this be done?
Thanks.

You can't put a blank drive in a TiVo and expect it to work. If you buy a drive from weaknees, they'll prepare it for you (you'll note you have to specify what you need in some detail).
Replacing A drives isn't video extraction. You can have as many A drives, or A+B pairs as you like (I had 4 A drives at one point). When you put it back in, all the Guide data will have expired, but everything else will be as you left it. Note that your drives will be tied to that TiVo's mainboard. If you put it in a different TiVo it will not work until you do a 'clear and delete everything' reset.
