GSOD: Am I hosed?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Here's my problem. I am experiencing the GSOD which I am 95% sure is occurring because my swap space is not large enough.

A buddy of mine upgraded my Sony SVR2000 Series 1 from the following config

Drive A: 30GB
Drive B: 80GB

To the following

Drive A: 120GB
Drive B: 80GB

Unfortunately, he forgot to increase the swap space so I am getting the GSOD and the constant reboot cycle.

Let me preface this by saying, that I just want my TiVo to work. I do not care about saving program data, TV shows or wish lists. I simply want to get things up and running again in the quickest and easiest method.

I have a Sony SVR2000 image which I have DL'ed from the web (if that helps)

I DO NOT have an extra large drive in which to pipe the A&B drives to.

I am unsure on how I should proceed

Ugh

Do the 'rescue' from the third post of the Fixes thread. The GSOD should clear in a few minutes, at most a few hours, after that.

You should also consider upgrading to more computer literate buddies before letting them loose on your pride-and-joy again! :)

I think that this is the part that is giving me concern from the "Upgrading Twin-drive TiVoes"

"There is one case that isn't covered by all the previous discussion: What do you do if you've got a TiVo with the original A drive and a large B drive? If you're on a twin with the original drives, you can just pipe both drives onto the new drive, but you're stuck if the old B drive is to be retained"

Do I simply ignore the two drive TiVo scenario since I am not retaining the data?

Do I simply follow the procedure as if I have a single drive?

Will both drives need to be connected to the computer when I do a restore?

Will MFS 2.0 automatically set my swap size the proper size?

Although I haven't checked, what if I am a 13-partion Sony (Are ALL Sony's 13 partition?) I guess the partions would be included on teh image I downloaded (nevermind)

You probably /should/ have done that trick when you upgraded the TiVo, but that water is waaaay under the bridge now.

The bit you need to do is the first part: "How to fix your TiVo if it gets stuck on a green screen".

Mission accomplished. I seem to have sucessfully restored the TiVo and all apears to be fine for now.

Although I have restored everything, I am still worried about the lack fo swap space.

I assume that it is impossible to double the swap space without destrying the partiton information on drive. No?
