Possibly to undo qunlock?

I have a series 2 40 G Tivo

After realizing that 40 hours REALLY meant 11 on highest quality,
decided to upgrade to a 120G hard drive.

Placed the Tivo 40G drive into the computer and it appeared to be
too small. In retrospect, I think the BIOS was not supporting a
drive of that size.

Seeing that it appeared small, presumed I needed to use the qunlock
utility.

Needless to say, nothing changed and now the hard drive is no
longer functional and I don't have the backup to make a new
drive.

Is it possible to undo the damage (my impression was that it
probably wasn't, in the Hinsdale FAQ) of using qunlock?

Thanks,

Brian

If the drive is locked, it will report as 9 or 10Mb. If it reports as anything else, it's not locked and running qunlock on it is hazardous.

If you run qunlock on a Maxtor drive that is not locked, it will become permanently, irreversably, locked. No-one has ever managed to get any of the data above the 10Mb mark off a drive in that state. This also prevents the TiVo booting.

You'll have to download a backup and use that to image your new drive.

So it appears I have irreversably killed the drive...was afraid of that.

Which now brings me to your last statement...backup image.
I have looked but cannot find one for the 24004a.
