Alias 12/7 (spoilers)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

Sloane got Lindsey to pay for his own assassination.

How cool is that? :D

Yeah. Alias is back.

Posted by: cwoody222

Oh yea...great episode! I've always been a huge Will fan so I was looking forward to this episode. I wasn't disappointed. Slone's back to being shady and Rimbaldi is front and center. Love it!

Supposedly by mid-Jan we'll have answers about Syd's missing two years and yet another major turn in the show. Can't wait!

Posted by: ufo4sale

Now this is the show I fell in love with.:D

Posted by: njtaz

I kind of expected Sloane to go against Lindsey. It was great! Seeing Will again was good also, but do you think Alyson is really dead this time? Or will she magically reappear like she did before.

Yeah, when we didn't see the picture Sloane showed the hit man, it couldn't have been any more obvious who was on the picture if we had seen it. If you know what I mean.

And I take it for granted that Alyson will be back. The question is, now that Syd has the Rambaldi Juice, will she, too, become a super-chick?

Posted by: LoadStar

Can anyone explain the last few lines in the show?

Syd: "We never talked about that."
Will: "Yeah. I kind of like that."

Uhm... can someone translate for the plot impaired? :)

Posted by: cmontyburns

I think I probably said to myself two or three times during this episode, "I love this show." I have minor quibbles with this one... it was pretty obvious that Sloane was going to off Lindsay and not Sydney... Allison has beaten the tar out of Sydney twice but Will takes her out pretty easily (not saying she's dead, of course)... Sark played catch-up to Sydney the whole way but somehow was always one step ahead (and why did she leave him there?)... but who cares. I ate it up anyway. What great TV.

I took it that she was talking about their tryst in Warsaw. Ordinarily if two friends did that, it would lead to lots of talking after about what it meant, what's the relationship now, etc. They didn't do that (not a little because they had a plane to catch and people to clobber). Will's response to her seemed to be saying that they didn't talk about it because they didn't need to -- like it felt like a natural thing to have done and not something that there needed to be any awkwardness about after. Which, since he's basically loved her forever, is an outcome he would kind of like indeed.

I kinda thought it was about the "getting it on" earlier in the episode ;)

Exactly what I was thinking when we didn't' see the picture. Then they show the shooter looking at Sydney through the lens, but thats them just trying to possibly throw you off.

Being that they didn't actually check to see if Sark or Alyson were dead leaves me to believe they will be back. And it looked like Will was taking some lessons the way he handled her.

Posted by: Chandler Mike

Yeah, I knew it was Lindsey the whole time, from the start of the show...especially when Sloan told Lindsey it was $500k...just seemed obvious, but still awesome.

Good to see Will back, but too brief. Alyson is probably still alive, and Sark wasn't even wounded or anything, just dazed from Syd kicking that door into him.

Show is awesome, just getting better.

Mike

Posted by: VegasVic

Yeah that was kind of weird with Will. He must have been taking taekwondo lessons in Wisconsin.

And Sark breaking into the other side of the box the exact same time as Syd? I don't watch this show because it's believable but geez...

Still a good ep though, much better than early season.

I know, there are times I like Sloane. The big question is what's in the rambaldi juce?

I think this is in reference to the "Love you" line. Will said he had been waiting for 8 years for a relationship with Syd. They had a special relationship but never really talked about exactly how they felt.

I thought it was ... Rambaldi. :)

That was my impression. And if you mainline Rambaldi, you become...SUPERCHICK!

So how do you tell the difference between Syd and SuperSyd?

Posted by: dschwab

Great episode, only 2 problems with it:

Why doesn't Sydney just kill Sark and be done with him? I understand that the show would suffer, and maybe she likes the challenge that he offers, but it seems like he's gone become a more dangerous adversary this year. And with Will in danger at the time she had Sark, you'd think the protective instincts that she normally has with Will would kick-in and she'd just take out Sark.

At the end of the show, Sydney has supposedly been rescued from The Covenant, but what explantion do they have for Will showing up with her? Surely there would be more than a few government officials pretty pissed if one of their top NSC officials was killed in a fake hostage exchange.

I suspect because she's not a murderer. It would be one thing if she were to kill him in the heat of combat, but he was just lying there unconscious on the floor.

Thank you - that makes sense!

Posted by: hughvh

Sloan killing Lindsey supports my theory Sloan would never hurt Sidney. My question is, what happened to Lindsey's file on Sloan? Someone is bound to find it while cleaning out his desk.

Posted by: dcheesi

Did anyone else have a problem with the wrap-up? I mean, just because Lindsey's dead shouldn't mean that everything is magically back to normal. Since Lindsey wasn't discredited, his organization should still be following his existing orders; there should have been a lot of wrangling and red tape to get everyone (especially Jack) out of NSA custody and back on active duty.

Yes, I know, it's not the first time they've done this, but it still irks me...

I agree. They didn't have to devote a whole episode or anything to it, but I think they should have at least explained how everything retuned to normal. Maybe said something about discovering Lindsey being corrupt or soemthing. I didn't like not having the closure of that story line.

Posted by: TivoDaddy

OK, I'm confused. Was Lazzerus (Sarks' Dad) a double agent? Or was he the guy that was feeding Wil with all the information about the old SD-6?

I hope they keep Wil in the story plot. I kind of liked that he represented a non-spy doing spy work....what we all wish we were doing, right??? :D

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

I think Will is gone for good--he tried to get too cute in contract negotiations, and they wrote him into witness protection. And now he's out of the storyline, and from last night ("I'm going back to Wisconsin," which is Hollywood for "I'm going back to Hell"), it looks like he's gonna stary there.

Posted by: Tracy

Somehow I have it in my mind that Sark might be Sidney's brother. Did I make that up or did something point in that direction at one time?

Oh, that's nothing.

How has Syd been flying around the world (LA to Wisconsin to Warsaw and back), getting all her outrageous costumes and gets back to LA to be rescued by the CIA???? She WAS a fugitive, right? Does she have a bat cave that she keeps all her passports, money and guns?? Does that cave also have a private jet?

I'm loving the cliff hanger episodes. It's like the 1st season.

I think Will has been beefing himself up. Afterall, he was abducted, shot up and addicted to something (heroin?) and got his ass kicked by a girl. Wouldn't you?? He had a gun at the ready when he first saw Syd, so he obviously intends to never become a victim again.

That was once a theory, but with Sark having his own Daddy now, it seems less likely (since it would have been difficult for Irina/Laura to explain another pregnancy).

I think there are still quite a few loose ends to tie up here... Obviously Syd helped Laz fake his death, but somehow someone (Assume Syd since she dreamt it?) chopped off his hand and gave Syd the coordinates for it... And now we know he was feeding Will info on SD-6.

I guess I'm trying to say that I think we are supposed to be confused at this point...

Dang - have to wait until January for resolution now...

;)

Yup, and one of the things I like about Alias! When I'm spending the next morning trying to figure out what the heck is going on, I'm a happy camper :-)

Posted by: dlperki

Yup, it's all great. I have no problem suspending disbelief for this show--probably because the pacing is so quick. My only wish is that Irina hadn't gotten greedy in contract negotiations--she added a great presence to the show. Oh well.....Syd rocks!

Sidney could have some unused Aliases and funds from her SD-6 days. If not, we know that Jack does. (From the storage shed we saw a couple of weeks ago.)

I'm confused, who got greedy in contract negotiations, Will or Sidney's mom?

Posted by: ScottE22

I enjoy this show immensely - a great escape on Sunday nights... Sometimes I hate that I watch it live, though, because when I try to FF through the commercials I get the TiVo "You're an Idiot" timpani sound... and my wife laughs...

From my understanding both.

Posted by: DancnDude

I know the mom got an offer. Then she turned it down with a list of other things she wanted. They then said OK and gave into her demands and she declined anyways. Sounded like she really didn't want to be on the show to begin with. :(

Posted by: KLB

Okay... this has been bugging me for a while and I still don't know what the deal is:

WHY exactly is Wil in witness protection?

Posted by: sean67854

One more nit to pick:

Would a high power sniper rifle really have a laser sight?

Posted by: uspkyle

No,

A distance shot would have to take wind into consideration, making a laser scope useless. Not to mention the fact that most snipers like to stay hidden :)

Regardless of contract negotiations, they must've liked Will to bring him back to sleep with Sydney, get revenge and ride off into the sunset...

He was a research agent for the CIA, and his work for the agency was uncovered by enemies of the state... as such, for his protection, they enrolled him in the Witness Protection Program to give him a new identity and relocate him.

(By the way - I take those jabs at Wisconsin personally... grrr... :))

Oh, it wasn't a jab at Wisconsin per se--it's just that to Hollywood, anything between, say, Chicago on the east, Denver on the West, St. Louis on the south, and the North Pole on the north is considered Hell, or at least a suburb thereof.

Posted by: LoadStar

Oh, I know, it wasn't your comment that I was referring to - as I recall, they made some comments about Wisconsin in the show itself as well. :)

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

Well, I guess some cheeseheads will just take offense at anything...

:D

A friend's Tivo missed this episode because of football. If someone doesn't mind dumping it to tape for me, I would *gladly* pay for the tape and postage. PM me if you're willing, and thanks!

ABC doesn't have football on Sunday nights. The show started on time as always... Even if Fox and or CBS ran over on football, TIVO should have picked up Alias just fine...

My guess is that her friend was probably TiVoing a football game on a different channel this week that overlaped with Alias.

I believe you are correct - AFAIK, this was the scenario.

Posted by: milo99

what also happens in some markets, such as DC, when for example, the Redskins play on ESPN sunday night, the local ABC shows it as well for those folks w/o cable. so if the ESPN game runs over, so does the rest of the programming. THis is why a few weeks ago I missed the last 15 minutes. They had actually pushed alias to 2am, but still ran everything late...dont quite understand why...

um, I believe Hollywood considers from the eastern suburbs of LA to the western suburbs of New York City to be a formless shifting void, perhaps populated. The flyover states, they call them.

Yes, but the South, the industrial (lower) midwest, the Northwest, Florida, the Southwest, New England, all these are generally considered to have their own unique (if rustic) charms. A good place to visit, at least in the movies.

The Upper Midwest, however, is just a vast, flat, frozen wasteland. With cows.

I myself just started watching Alias about a month and a half ago when i bought the first season on DVD.

Since buying the second DVD and watching all of my burned-to-DVD 3rd season episodes I can honestly saying this is one of the best shows out there.

I personally only have one request to make. MORE MARSHALL. This guy is pure GOLD. How funny was it when he admitted to pissing himself in the middle of that Op? And when he told the chinese guy in the wheelchair to go to hell and then saved Sydney who had come to save him was priceless.

Also thought putting Dixon in as Director was a great move also.

Posted by: Rcrew

Couple a quick comments...

I think Alyson is finally dead, and bringing Will back to do it closes the book on both of those two. We won't see either again.

As for the final comments between Will and Syd, I was taken back to the scene where they were in bed, and suddenly Syd jumps up and starts searching on her laptop for hotels where she might have stored something. There were several close ups of Will, I thought focusing on his expression. To me it showed that he was uncomfortable with Syd leaping out of their intimacy back into her world of spy/counter spy. I think at that point he knew that although they would always be able to be close, the relationship would never have 'traditional' trappings.

At the end, I think he's saying he was glad they shared as they did, but acknowledges, if only to himself, there won't be an ongoing coupling.

Posted by: Ramblnman

From everything that occurred in the last 2 episodes, it sounded to me like in the 2 missing years Sydney had been working with the Rimbaldi protectors (Lazarey's hand had the Rimbaldi tat) to prevent the Rimbaldi device from falling into the wrong hands (Sloane or the Covenant). Once she had disabled the device (hidden the vial?), she voluntarily had her memory erased to, again, prevent the device from ever falling into the wrong hands.

Did they ever conclusively find that Sydney was removed from her burning apartment by the Covenant or could it have been the Rimbaldi group? Were the 2 lost years filled with more double agent shenanigans - Sydney working for the Covenant but running countermissioins for Rimbaldi?

I can not wait for January.

-- Syd knows that evil Francie has Wolverine-like healing powers. She should have pulled a Jack Bauer - 'I'm going to need a hacksaw.' There was no real hurry to get out of that hotel.

Posted by: Mike20878

I don't remember the dialog between Syd and Will about his contact. How did that come up again? And what kind of contact was this? I don't think it had anything to do with SD-6 because that was Jack, wasn't it? I remember all of the disguised-voice phone calls leading Will along or off-course.

Even Will in first season, when he knew nothing about spy stuff, knew enough to leave a copy of his notes with someone who would open them if he didn't check in by a particular time. How on earth could Lindsey not have thought of that? I hope this is a plot thread that is going to come back, but I'm afraid it's going to be another "don't think too much about that, because gosh, wasn't that a cool assassination" scene.

And it was. Great episode overall. It's nice of them to give me these plot holes to play with, too. Otherwise I'd be bored. :D

Posted by: LooseWiring

There is a distinct difference between a journalist and a blackmailer. If Lindsay's information on Sloan was given to someone else that person would also know the dirt on Sloan.

Lindsay wouldn't have willingly shared that power with anyone else.

Any evidence that Lindsay has, and hasn't used to prosecute, could be used to implicate him in blackmail.

Not that Alias really tries all too hard at maintaining realism.

Posted by: Hunter Green

All he'd have to do is have a failsafe to protect him in this kind of situation -- and make sure Sloane knows that. That doesn't require sharing the power. Heck, he could have a half-dozen computer set up to email the data if he doesn't log into them once a month, that'd be enough.

Posted by: jwjody

I don't think it was Sark's dad feeding Will info on SD6. Will said the guy was a contact when he was an analyst. That would have been when Will was working for the CIA. I think it was determined in S1 that K-Directorate were the people feeding will info on SD6.

Didn't Allison tell Syd that there was a formula in the Rimbaldi manuscript that healed her? The stuff in the box at the end of this episode was tissue from Rimbaldi. Not a formula...
