HBO has a survey out that might be an attempt to check interest in a season 2 of Carnivale...

I've never seen a survey such as this, asking about specific characters and whether or not they add or detract from the show. Based on one part of it, I have to ask (and don't read if you haven't seen the finale yet!)

Since the survey asks about Lodz, Ruthie, Jonesy, Sophie, do you think responses will decide who makes it out of the burning trailer?

I find it interesting that the survey doesn't ask about Appolonia...she's one of the more intriguing characters and seems to be one of the few holding a good deal of the answers. Wonder if this means that her fate has already been determined?

I took the survey. Thanks to Doug for posting it. Over a year is a long time to wait. I hope that our answers speed up the timetable a little bit.

Thanks for the link. It only took me about 2 minutes and will likely factor moderately into the decision to keep the show alive, so I trust other fans will vote accordingly.

This is exactly the same way NBC handles several of their series. The format is exactly the same. They made huge obvious changes to Boomtown this way. They also did the same polling for Whoopi!

Hopefully HBO won't handle Carnivale the same way that NBC handled Boomtown. They polled and polled the show to death. The multi-threaded chronology disappeared because of it. The reporter disappeared because of it. They seemed to base all of their major decisions on the outcome of the poll. It became to random because of it.

In the HBO chat after the last episode, both Clancy Brown and Nick Stahl made references to the second season as if it were a done deal.
