Premiering this January 14th.
I was kind of hoping for Kelly Jo, but Meredith should probably make a nice Bachelorette. I've only watched the Bachelor, but not the bachelorette. I'm not sure how entertaining it would be to watch a bunch of male suiters vs. a bunch of female suiterettes.

On another Bachelorette note, they're saying in the news that Trista is being sued for 20% of her $1 million wedding. I don't understand why she should owe somebody who helped negotiate the $1 million from ABC. Did she ever agree to pay a commission for this?

$1 million?? I heard the wedding cost $4 Million.

Admittedly, this series is probably one of the most innocuous examples of the reality genre. Still - am I the only one who thinks these are completely pointless wastes of time? Trista and what's-his-name are the only ones that have actually made it as far as marriage. (Personally, I question how long the marriage lasts, but that's just my cynicism kicking in.)
The other relationships on the Bachelor(ette) all blew up sooner or later. The most recent Bachelor, I understand, recently broke up - that lasted, what, 4-5 months?
It's patently obvious that there's precious little hope for any lasting relationship on this show - why waste the time watching people go through the motions?
(Granted - I don't watch any of these shows... never seen one ep of any of them... but for mostly these reasons.)

I believe the wedding cost $4 million, but ABC gave Trista $1 million on top of that.

Oh, so that's it. And the guy who helped negotiate the 1 mill wants a 20% cut. I would like to know where he came up with 20%.

IIRC, that's the standard cut for a manager.

The article I read said that California law only allows for a maximum of 10%.

It is unclear whether Rehn actually signed the contract. California labor codes usually restrict talent agents and managers to no more than 10 percent of a client's earnings.

So if Trista gets $1 Million, what's Ryan getting?

They were asking that on the radio this morning. My guess would be:
"Till the 1 Million runs outs give or take a week"

While I have never seen either program, and have neither reason to do so, the reason the people do it is the ability to get on tv, and some to the extent of finding a true love. After all, most people don't end up marrying the first person they date.
