javaHMO and Zone Alarm

I am having an odd problem, TiVo will not see JavaHMO with zone alarm on. (If I shut down Zone alarm TiVo sees JavaHMO just fine.)

I've given everything that looks even remotely related to JavaHMO access to the internet and permission to act as a server, but no dice. The only way I can see JavaHMO is to turn off ZA.

I didn't have this problem with TiVo Desktop, but I also don't want to go back. Any suggestions?

Running: Win XP home and the free install of Zone Alarm (not ZA pro).

Thanks.

I am always running Zone Alarm Pro and everything works fine. I just looked at the list of programs I configured in Zone Alarm with rights and the only one on the list that might be useful to you would be java.exe

Have you tried doing a manual connection from your Tivo to JavaHMO?

There is a place in the ZA (Zone-Alarm) GUI that describes "Trusted Zones". There is a button to add individual and a range of IP addresses. I have a 4-port router and use DCHP for the 3 devices that are currently attached, i.e, 2 PCs and 1 SA TiVO. There is a range of addresses that the router will assign to these devices via DCHP. The last 3 digits of the IP address enumerate, on my setup they are 1-4. I added the range of IP addresses assigned by the router, i.e. starting address, ending address, to the "Trusted Zone". This should allow free traffic between the devices. If you are using a fixed IP address for the TiVo, you can add a single IP address to the "Trusted Zone". Dig around a bit in the ZA GUI and you will find the tab to do this. This should fix your problem. Let me know.

Thanks for all the input, I was able to correct the problem with a re-install. For some reason JavaHMO-1.1.exe was not asking for permisson to access the internet.

Cheers.
