A new low in customer relations...

Has anyone checked out what Replay has done to its new customers?
Apparantly, they lowered the price of Replays to $149, and decided to charge for monthly service fees. Unfortunately, the box says on it "3 years service included!" Most of the sales drones neglected to tell people about the change in pricing structure, so now tons of people who bought Replays for gifts at $149 are finding out the recipients of that gift have to shell out $250 for a lifetime service. And people complain about TiVo's help line?

Couldn't Replay have distributed stickers or something to retailers to put on the box indicating the new wording? You couldn't get all the retailers to comply, but I"m sure you could get most of the bigger ones.
They must be up to their armpits in damage control over there.

This is old news. It was the cause of a ton of people on the TiVo forum asking for help with the RTV features (whatever). It is partially the stores fault for not making some of key text changes related to the pricing change to its ad and in clear display at the stores, and it is Replay's fault for not catching the activation issues as soon as the price change was put into the marketplace. Yes, I know about the stickers out there, but I don't know how well that argument will go.
However, I think fully everyone who bought into that deal knew exactly what the situation was about and was just hoping for loopholes to go through. Are there technical/legal remedies? I don't know, but the reality is if RTV "gives in" that just means that RTV will be back in bankruptcy or worse, out of business very quickly.
The worse part to me is a bunch of open boxes of practically all of the RTVs that were in inventory being back in all of these stores. Such a waste.

Sorry, I searched but didn' t come up with the right thread I guess. That company certainly has a knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
