(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently got myself a tivo, after my roomate left with his. Following the instructions on Hinsdales site, i installed a 60 gig B drive into my 40 gig Tivo
Model - 24004A, upon installing the drives it continualy cycles me thru the welcome, just a minute more screen, then finally pops up with and Internal Temperature is too high error, it seems impossible for it to be overheating, both drives are 5400rpm, and my house, unfortunately is cold as an icebox at all times.

I was reading that my image may be corrupt, anyone have any ideas for reconstruction? or any idea where i can get a new image?
Please help

hi!

quick check...

are you sure that you plugged in the fan (or verify that it's
still working)?

cheers, michel...

I also received a "BSOD", the message on the screen of the frozen TiVo says:

The internal temperature was too high
The system has been shutdown to avoid damage to the h/w

Please check the following
Air vents on the bottom are not blocked
The system in not put in an overly hot location

If there is not a valid reason for this overheating please call customer care

FWIW, my unit is a Phillips DirecTiVo DSR7000. This happened twice, the first time it was within 3 hours of it being plugged, the 2nd time could have been anytime with 2-12 hours since it happened while I was at work. This is with the unit brand new out of the box and no hacking. There is plenty of ventilation. I can hear the fan from the power supply area.

I have had 6 standalone TiVo's over the last 4 years [3 original which I sold on eBay and upgraded to 3 - Series2 machines] and this never happened to any of those either with or without hard drive upgrades.

Needless to say this box is going back to Best Buy or being replaced by D* and I'm praying this is just a lemon machine.
