I've been using two Philips Series 1 Tivos for years now, and just hooked up and hacked an old, hand-me-down Sony Series 1. The thing is, while the background animations on the Philips are relatively benign, I'm finding the background animations on the Sony are annoying the crap out of me.

Can I either (a) move the background animations from the Philips to the Sony (and how) or (b) create my own background animations for the Sony that are more to my taste?

Pointers and tips would be much appreciated.
