I need to find out what version of software I am running on a 240040 series 2 unit. Unit is new and has not been through intial setup. NE1 know how to find out what version my unit has?

Not until the setup is complete. The only way to know if you have a pre-installed 4.x software is to plug in your Wired Network adapter and see if you get a Network settings option.

Otherwise you need to complete Guided Setup first.
