I'm in the process of trying to recover from a crashing A drive in my DirectTivo. I started out with 2 Maxtor 120 GB 4G120J6 drives and purchased two DiamondMax Plus 9 160GB drives.
I needed to update the BIOS on my ASUS A7PRO Motherboard so that it could see the full capacity of the 160s. After the update I forgot to reset the boot sequence and the first time that I tried to boot from the MFSTools CD the system came up in Windows 98.
I had my DirectTiVo A drive installed as hdb and the new A drive installed as hdd in preparation for dding from hdb to hdd. I shut down as soon as I could. Has Windows 98 corrupted my DirectTiVo A drive?
I'm running the dd now but it will take a while to finish.

If memory serves, only Windows NT, 2000, & XP cause the corruption problem.. You should be fine.
