Noticed something interesting while looking at the Tivo To Do list. L&O:SVU, and L&O now start at 9:59, but the entire first minute is the promos for other shows, presumably from the outro of the previous show.

Is this just some fiendish plan to make me watch a minutes worth of promos? Or is it more devilish, and a scheme to confuse Tivos across the fruited plain into skipping a show on a competing network that ends at 10?

Seems pretty simple to me.

By extending their top rated shows by a minute or more they can fit in an extra commercial or two at a much higher rate than they would get if they sold those spots on a less successful show.

I was just explaining this to someone tonight...NBC's gone mad. They're going to really tick some people off with all these sight time changes and crap.

Sort of OT, but sort of on...NBC often claims their new programming on Thursday night is "super sized". I had an argument this evening (a great use of my time, I think) about the phrase "super-sized", and I think it was in use before McDonald's came out with it. Anyone know if I'm right or wrong?
