Integrate HD Cable in HD Tivo tuner?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have spent hours reading this forum so I appologize if I missed this question somewhere else.

I took the $99 deal and am getting frustrated with the confusion for antennas so I am considering paying Comcast ($11 for service + $6 for a box) to get all the local channels. My question is whether I can take the output from the cable box (in HD) and hook it into the antenna input on my HD Directv tuner and still see it in HD? Also, will these channels show up on the program guide like the OTA HD channels are supposed to?

I don't really want an output from the Cable Box, output from HD Tivo Tuner and output from Tivo all going to the tv separately. Maybe I can get talked into getting the antenna but i don't want a large antenna on the roof and my NBC color code is Red.

Any help would be appreciated.

The DirecTV/HD-Tivo will not (once it's released) work with HD from a cable provider.

Thanks but I'm not yet at HD Tivo. I just want to plug the output fromt the hd cable box into the antenna/cable input of teh regular directv HD tuner so i can watch directv hd channels as well as local cable hd channels from one controlled unit.. Is this possible?

I'm confused! You mention HD Tivo Tuner in your first post, then in your second post you state your not "at HD Tivo".

The answer to your second question is no, unfortunately. DirecTV HD receivers can receive HD signals from antenna and DirecTV's satellites only.

Dude,

It is time to learn about which antenna you need, put one up, and then get ready to buy the HDTV TiVo to control ALL your HD and digital viewing.

It would be extremely silly to get MOST of your HD programming from a source that is useless with the TiVo (cable).

Agree. My only concern is that NBC in my area shows up as Red so I need a medium size antenna. All the other channels are yellow. Question, the anntennaweb shows the colors for analog and digital. I assume they correlate to HD? Any antenna recommendations. I heard Terk is a definite no. I am going to try the indorr Zenith silver but I'm not too optimistic. I'd like to have an antenna when the installers come as I assume its more expensive to find someon after the fact?

Now, if I were to get this new HD TiVo merely for the OTA recording capability (no subscription to D*) how does that work? I'm under the impression that it gets its guide data via satellite...so is D* required, or can it dial in like a SA TiVo?

Chances are a DirecTV subscription will be required... but you can wait until the release and we should all know for sure then.
