The O.C. 1X15 The Third Wheel (Spoilers)

Seth finally chose and he chose Anna! Good for him. I like her so much better than Summer anyway. It's too bad that it is obvious that Summer is going to make it as difficult for them as possible though :(

So, what's the deal with oliver anyway? His whole story seems fishy. Is he really off of the drugs? Does he really have a girlfriend (doubtful in my mind) and his whole back door thing is a bit odd.

And wow, Luke's character has definitely changed. I understand the whole liking anyone who will be friendly to him thing, but come on... Singing and dancing and jumping up and down??? I think that is a bit much. hopefully the writers will reel that in a bit soon.

I think Luke might be reverting to some kind of child like state. Its like he is just trying to be goofy and enjoy the friends he has so he doesnt have tot think about whats really bothering him.

But man, Oliver is freaky!

I am glad seth picked Anna too, but I am just afraid she is not going to be a permanent cast member, and I realy want her to be.

At least Summer finally made the opening cast credit!

I'd rather have Seth end up with Summer in the long term. She is hotter and she is a better character to watch IMO. So I guess I'm glad that he chose Anna and that Rachel Bilson is now in the opening credits, because that means that hopefully the thing with Anna is short term and Seth will get to "experience" both of them.
Does anyone who watches this show like the Ryan/Marissa cahraters and storyline? These were the two "heartthrobs" they based the show on and they are supposed to be the stars, but I find their characters, stories, and acting to be the weakest on the show. I am so glad they have fleshed out all these other characters (especially Seth and Sandy) and not focused too much on R/M because I think very few people would be watching if they did that.
Discuss.

Rachel Bilson has been in the opening credits since the December 17, 2003 episode, The Countdown. (I archive TV opening credit sequences, so I pay attention to this sort of thing.)

I agree. The Ryan and Marissa storyline is so dreadful, it's actually painful to watch. I've thought for the past few episodes they really had zero chemistry.

I disagree though about Seth. I think he an Anna are perfect for each other, while Summer is really only good for comedic value. Her clueless thoughless bimbo is classic Cordelia from the first and second seasons of Buffy (and interesting they both fell for the "nerd" and were embarrassed....). In the end, Summer's pretty one dimensional while Anna actually has some personality. I'd have rather had Anna as a regular than Summer.

And seriously, what is up with Luke? I think that now that he and Marissa aren't together the writers are having a hard time trying to figure out what his character is supposed to be/do.

Am I the only one who loves the intro to this show? Especially the piano intro at the beginning. Who's the song by? Or is it an original?

Posted by: Spire

The song is California by Jason Schwartzman's band, Phantom Planet.

Thanks, got it off iTunes...I was listening to Rooney last night on iTunes too, and they're not that bad, although I don't think I'll buy their album.

I was hoping Rooney was fiction, because they were soooo bad, but I knew they couldn't be from all the promotion they were giving them. Still, some of the songs were so contrived/cheesy it had me wondering at times. Ugh.

I LOVE the theme song. Got it a few weeks ago...listen to it all the time.

As for the episode...who cares about the story - TiVo AND Golden Girls references!!! I was in heaven!!! Plus I have a strange fascination with Kim Oja so The OC really must be made just for me.

I loved the reference to Hard to Kill; "Anticipation of death is worse than death itself." I loved that movie when I was 17 and too young to know any better!
