HDVR2 problems booting up

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Raekz

I recently purchased an HDVR2 off ebay. When I plug the unit in, it goes through the setup screen successfully until it gets to "acquiring info from satelite".

At that point it always gets stuck at 70% complete. I have contacted the Hughes technical team and tried resetting the receiver etc. to no avail. I tried contacting the useless individual that I bought the unit from, but he seems very disinterested (big surprise there!!!).

Anyway, I am now stuck trying to do something with it. Would copying the image from the Tivo hard drive (as explained in the forum) and then re-writing it to the Tivo hard drive work? It seems that I would likely end up with the same problem.

Please, I would greatly appreciate any guidance.

Dan

How long did you wait???

go to the satellite setup screen as soon as it boots up. when it gets to the acquiring screen press tivo button and it lets you in the menus. YOu have some xponders missing I'd bet, go through each one and reply with whats missing.....

Greek,

You are correct. If memory serves, I am missing 2 transponders (I think numbers 4 and 18, but I will check again tonight when I get home). I had previously just assumed that these were not available as it has not effected past reception. Are all of the transponders supposed to be present on every dish? I have a round dual LNB dish.

I greatly appreciate your help on this, and again, I will get back to you tonight with the exact transponders that are missing.

Also, Cruez, I waited over 30 minutes the last time, and still nothing, but I believe that Greek may be on to something with the missing transponders.

GREEK,

I just checked the transponders and it is true that I am missing 4 and 18. Also, 26 appears to be relatively weak. Do you have any further guidance?

Thanks for your input.
