I wonder how many people who have ordered one were in a position a year ago to make use of it (already had a HDTV display) had it been available then.

I bought my first HDTV in April 2000. I replaced it in January 2003 with a Samsung 50" DLP.

so does anyone know what happened with robert's posts? I mean I am confident that I am still at least under 350 and should get mine by the first or second week of April (hopefully), I am just wondering how he looked to be fine keeping track of orders up through the 168 post but just went to hell after that. by the time he says they hit 200 they were already close to 300 and 219 looks like they might have even been close to 400? allocation and 350 mark posts had to be made well after 400...

just curious... guess it is just kind of disappointing to put my order in and have him come in a while afterwards to say they now have 219, only to find out that I might in fact be closer to 350. :(

Posted by: Y0SHI

The Value Electronics website does not reflect it anymore, but at one time didn't it say that only 350 pre-orders were going to be accepted? I thought I remember seeing that originally.

Really? That is why I am bringing it up. Orginally, the pre-order page stated that only 350 orders would be taken. This assured that if you got your order in, you would have a good chance of being in the initial allotment (or what the allotment was thought to be at that time). I was just curious as to if anyone knew when/why that disclaimer was removed.

P.S. Not trying to start a flamewar...just curious.

Posted by: PJO1966

Sorry I misunderstood. I vaguely remember seeing that disclaimer, although it seems like it was 100 years ago. I guess they figured they would be getting enough units to fill all orders. The deal still stands that if you can get it sooner you get your deposit back.

The 350 was based originally on what Robert was to have received in the very first shipment. That all has since changed, of course, since they're producing them a week earlier now, but a comparatively small number that week.

As I recall, once he though his forst order of 350 was sold out he changed delivery info to be "mid-April" and continued taking orders, and based on that had ordered more from Hughes (and now from DirecTV since they changed the ordering process), with some assurances he'll get X number of them quickly. To that end, his post on 2/16 (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...381#post1738381) talked about a "second allocation".

But nonetheless, you still have the money-back guarantee if you can get it elsewhere before he ships the unit to you.

Posted by: dswallow

Why are people just posting dates of their orders and no times today?

That's annoying.

Everyone. Read the list. It has dates AND times. Please provide enough info for me to keep the list in some semblance of order. Date AND time.

Thank you.

Way back in Post 292 Robert said this. Things have changed and the dates may have shifted but he will still get you your product, but of course he "will refund 100% of the money, upon request, only if you can purchase the HD-DVR250 anywhere else sooner than I can ship."

Posted by: joegolf68

Doug, thanks for all the hard work. Sorry, I don't have date or time. I placed my order online and have not received a single email or anything thereafter. I won't bug Robert as he has his hands full. When things get close, I will get the forms and all. I am not too worried as I have my GG order to fall back on and since I am in CA and GG pre-ordered 1,000, I have a shot at beating Robert's first orders! Now I know that will be a killer for everyone here.

I am order number 217 with GG and the salesperson said they are going to fill the pre-orders immediately upon receipt in their CA wharehouse. Maybe I will make arrangements to drive the 90 miles to the Bay Area just so I can get mine and post goodies here.

Who knows, I am just speculating about everything but I haven't posted in a while so figured I should stir something up! Anyone else go to GG and pre-order and get the $899 deal also?

Posted by: bertschb

I've emailed Robert twice myself with no replies. Makes me a little nervous. I don't have a fax machine so I filled out his forms, scanned them and then emailed them back to him. I asked him if that was OK (twice) but no response yet. I also haven't got an email yet confirming my place in his "que".

Sure hope he catches up on his emails soon. I've done my part (placed my order, paid $100, filled out his forms, etc.).

Posted by: PJO1966

Robert had posted here that e-mail was fine for returning the forms...

Posted by: bertschb

Thanks. I didn't see his post (I've tried to keep up but.....). Now I just hope he actually got my email.

Posted by: slocko

I have now resorted to bragging to people how I might get the x manufactured HD-Tivo in the country.

Sad sad sad. Why couldn't I just be a hard working farmer whose only concern was how his corn crop was going to turn out this year :D

As #12922, what's your source for that information? That doesn't square with Doug's painstakingly compiled listing.

Posted by: grins

Hey, Will, me too! Sort of

I was in Germany for a week, and came back to 50 new pages in this thread. The first 20 or so were all the robert scammed me, he's a theif, which of course almost all of us know is completely untrue, in fact so far from the truth to be laughable if the pedants weren't so emphatic. At that point I worried that, somewhere in the next 30 pages was Robert saying 'Enough!' and cancelling all orders. Thank goodness for DSwallow saving our sanity and forum decorum.

Now I have to mail my forms to Robert and get my number :D :D

"As #12922, what's your source for that information? That doesn't square with Doug's painstakingly compiled listing"

Recieved a PM from Robert - in response to a request. He also said he would not be giving actual numbers to anyone over 350. He indicated I was somewhere between 350 and 400.

You have to keep in mind that list isn't all inclusive... there are a lot of orders that aren't on that list. According to the list, 1/19 starts off at #300, and if you look at how many orders ARE listed between #250 and #300, hitting 350 on 1/19 looks quite probable (1/19 looks like it was a pretty big order day). Last I heard, people who are currently ordering are still scheduled for shipment by the end of April, so it shouldn't make a HUGE difference.

assuming that 02Overlader is 12772
(you people paranoid about your order number getting around crack me up :D but thats another thread I suppose)
And then assuming after that every order number in sequential order is a HDirecTivo that would put 350 at order number 12822. Since I'm 12823, I'm hoping there's at least one order in there for a sd box or something so I can squeeze in to be #350.

Think that's disappointing, I ordered in between Robert saying it was getting close to the allocation and that he had hit the 350 mark, so you'd think I made it just under the wire. Instead it looks like I'm closer to number 500!

I do think Robert will honor the refund provision, but I could have been first on my local Tweeter's pre-order list, but didn't since I've got a $100 deposit sitting at VE.

Posted by: dave3

Mike you can not assume that every order is for a HDtivo since VE has all thier orders mixed in for other items in there. For example i ordered a harmony remote that was on the page right after I ordered my hdtivo, so thats another order number.

FYI - because I had not yet received my email, I just called and spoke to Wendy at VE. She confirmed that I was in the first 350 and it was still set to be shipped early April. I was further told that a lot more emails are going out today.

When we offered the pre-order our CSR's were asked for everyone to place the orders on the shopping cart so we could easily control the orders. As time passed some CSR's took phone orders, which threw off my tally sheet.

The good news is that it appears that production will be sufficient to fill many more orders than originally scheduled, so in the very close end everyone will be very happy.

TEASE !

We need details !!! How can we all agonize without details????

Posted by: TallGuy

That is great news.

I just talked myself up from 2-day air to overnight by thinking about how frustrated I'd be if it arrived the Monday after the Masters instead of the Friday before that weekend. I've had time to mentally get over the $955 purchase, and so it was easier to justify an additional $20...

Any projections on how many DOA boxes they will produce? I vote that those are all sent to the east coast somewhere... :) Someplace where you all are spoiled rotten by having dozens of DTV OTA signals to choose from...

Great news! Thanks!!

Given that I'm probably down around #800 or so, do you really expect that many by, say, 4/15 or so?

Would you say that Hughes/DirecTV has been surprised by the volume of pre-orders?

================================

I have had it with Dishnetwork, ready to switch today with there Viacom / CBS channel shutoff threat tonight and the many bugs in the 921

Now just a matter of how soon I can get TWO SD Tivos and One HD Tivo.
I can do my own install if needed (did about 10 Dishnets installs before).

Has the estimated date changed any on the HD Tivo with the quote about for AVS and Tivo Com. members? If we ordered today?

Do we need to ask for anyone special on the phone?

Is there anyway for me to prepare for the arrival of my unit?

Like jumping jacks, learn a new dance, volunteer at the Y, give hugs to my ups drivers, re-read my Tivo manual, re-read this entire thread, re-read this entire thread but start from the end, get a Mexican paypal that works in the manufacturing Tivo facility, etc, etc.......

I am not going to go back and wade through the pages and pages here, but my question is: What happened to the two people saying such horrible things about Robert? Have they posted anymore? Do they realize that things are getting better, not worse? Just asking.

I called Robert today as I am number 360 or so. He said if I pay full price he will bump me up to the first shipment! Great news.

I don't want to pay 2-day shipping if the stuff is reaching me from San Diego -- it'll only take 2 days that way anyway....

I guess I don't return my forms until there is an answer.

Oh, but as #2, sooner is a good thing. :)

Rogo, have you emailed/pmed/called Robert to try to find an answer? I'm guessing that at this point, there is no definite answer, but as #2, you might have some luck getting the skinny :D

You guys need help. I'm thinking about writing a psychology term paper about this thread.
Tentative title - HD TiVo Hierarchy: What Number Are You?

So lay back, relax, and let me ask you a question.
How does it make you feeeeel when someone posts a lower order number than you. Emasculated? Dejected? Murderous? Does it make you yearn for a maternal presence?
Go on. Let it out. You'll feel better.

You can put your shipping preference on one of the forms. You should send the forms in ASAP to prevent any potential delay.

Robert,

I would like to do whatever email exchanges are required to receive confirmation of my official place in line , as well as the required communication for payment/shipping of the HD DVR when the time is appropriate, but I don't think VE has my current email address. My email address changed after I pre-ordered and I called VE recently to update it, but I can't tell if they got the info. I just want to make sure that you can contact me when it's time to sign any forms for payment & shipping.

May I say the obvious... Judging by what has transpired over the last couple of weeks in conjunction with the release of this product, you have the patience of a saint!!

Thanks...

Not one post yet today....now that everyone in the top 300-350 has firm data on their position things are slowing down.

Now if only I knew if I was 400, 500 or 600...

I am some what disappointed to learn that I might be more in the 400's because when I ordered I was pretty sure I was in the low-mid 300 range (because of the updates Robert was posting on the fly). But at this point all I care about is getting one sooner then my buddy that works at Tweeter.

Posted by: SteveWinNJ

FYI: I should be #301, but haven't received an email with the official number yet. So don't lose hope that you haven't made the 350 cutoff..if there is one anymore. BTW, my order date/time was 1/19, 12:33am, order number 1277*.

Posted by: aaronwt

No firm data yet for me. I should be around 330 to 350 judging by dswallows list. Hopefully I'll get an email this week and find out. If not I'll have to fax my papers again.

Posted by: aejanis

There are just over 60 people on Doug's list between #300 and my name.

So I am at LEAST 370...and more likely the low to mid 400's since it is fact that not everyone has submitted their order # to Doug (and this thread).

Posted by: dswallow

It seems fairly accurate to follow the order numbers. I guess there's enough phone orders offsetting the non-HD-unit online orders that it's keeping things relatively close.

Using that method, for instance, puts the order that actually is #291 around #280. So it would appear phone orders and maybe multiple-unit orders are actually over-compensating for non-HD-unit orders made online.

So, my predictions...

Wow...500's.

Posted by: aaronwt

AHHHHHH!!! 499!?!?!?!?!? If I would have just seen the preorder info a few days earlier.

Posted by: aejanis

There must have been a FLOOD of orders in last days of the pre-order.

Too bad the order form didn't have the ability to tell you how many orders had been taken @ that time. Maybe Robert could do that next time (if he ever wants/has a next time ;) ). It would save him the headaches I am sure he has been having with getting people their place in line.....and how hard would it be really?! Just a simple "inventory" type backended shopping cart is all that is needed. Set it up with 350 units in "[pre-order] inventory" for the pre-order.

Basically the only reason I pre-ordered was with the hopes that I would be in the first 350. Had I known there was no way I would have even been close...well I would have waited for things to settle down a bit.

In the end I know I will get it...just not in the first (or second or maybe even the third) wave like I had been expecting.

Posted by: madpoet

Well the other obvious preorder advantage was the $100 off :)

Posted by: SteveWinNJ

Also, Robert still seems confident we will ALL get our units by the end of April, including everyone who pre-ordered up until a day or so ago! I believe Robert is the "under promise and over deliver" type merchant, and that we all will be more concerned about upgrading, rather than getting, our units in the next month or so! :D

Posted by: aejanis

quote:

That was not a selling point for me...the selling point was that I would maybe get it the first week it was out. $100.00  not something that is going to make or brake a deal on something bleeding edge like this.

Watching Robert cut into his profits (or any dealer, car dealer on down to the local donut shop) doesn't put a smile on my face. I just want it delivered before the GP can get it at their local BB or CC.

EDIT: I only put down $25.00. Robert supports us here @ TC and AVS, I am returning the favor and helping to support his bottom line.

Posted by: madpoet

$100 is $100. I'm not going to sneeze at it :). I preordered mine fairly late in the game (last week) and did it not because of the money, but because of the time that Wendy at VE spent going over my requirements and setting me up with a good deal. I appreciated her talking to me several times over the course of a day, and it was that service from VE that made me preorder.

But I do like having an extra $100 :).

Yes, Robert is cutting into his bottom line on each unit by offering the discount, however, I am sure that the quantity he is selling more than makes up for it overall. I don't think Robert made the pre-order discount offer simply out of the kindness of his heart (although he is surely a kind man). It was most likely an excellent business decision as well.

Posted by: BillF

Anyone ever heard of volume discounts?:)

Posted by: slocko

10 years from now they will be interviewing us, asking where we were when he heard about the HD-Tivo preorder :)

Posted by: madpoet

Heh, not so well Slocko. But I am suspecting more and more that it is Comcast, and not Hitachi, who is at fault.

If they still offer the chance to cancel if you can get it elsewhere earlier, I see no downside. ;)

Posted by: videoholic

True, but do we have to prove that we got it elsewhere for cheaper or can we just cancel if we buy it elsewhere for any price?

Hello Hofstra - would like to know myself - have not gotten an email from VE yet (sent my info by email a week ago) - my guess is 1 more that he gets in his first two allotments (351?)

The offer is based on getting it sooner.

If you also could get it cheaper, he'd match the price, but if he couldn't deliver yet, you could still get it elsewhere and cancel your order.

From http://www.valueelectronics.com/avsTC.htm:

quote:
5. All orders are final and I will refund 100% of the money, upon request, only if you can purchase the HD-DVR250 anywhere else sooner than I can ship.

6. I will also price match any legitimate competitors price, or even my own lower price, assuming they can also ship that day, but only up to the day that I actually ship your order.

Posted by: dswallow

But his time was either a guess or based on when he posted here saying he ordered, so it's possible he's actually before your order. The odds might be good he is, since most people posted within minutes of placing their order... but it's not a bet I'd probably be willing to take. ;)

Posted by: BruceL

My order # is 12841 - I posted it a while back but Doug must have missed it. I did get a PM from Robert - I am "just over" the 350 count but Robert says I should ship 1st week of April.

Now what to do? If it is shipped from NY, I am only 2 days UPS, however, if he ships from CA it is 5 or 6 days. Hopefully as we near the ship date, we will know where they will ship from - if from CA, I would want to upgrade to 2nd day.

Bruce,
As mentioned earlier in this "little" thread, if sent from Ca you'll actually get it earlier than if the units were first sent to NY and then sent out vs the units going from the Left to the Right coast.

The point is to get the unit early. Not to get it earlier than we otherwise would have gotten it. ;)

I'm in a similar position.

I chose UPS Ground because it's 1 day service from Robert's place of business. I want it next day. If it's shipping from California or thereabouts, I'll pay for next-day air shipping, but there's no point in wasting the money for next-day air shipping when UPS Ground was going to be next day anyway.

Posted by: gem

I'm sure that Robert is aware of the dilemma that will be created by changing the shipping location. Being in Southern California I would hope that I can change the shipping to ground and save the money.
All I ask is that when Robert makes the final arrangements, we are given enough time to change the shipping method if necessary.

Posted by: PJO1966

Even if he is shipping from San Diego, I'm still going to stick with overnight, even though I am in Los Angeles. If I was concerned about saving money I would have waited to order. The $100 discount we're getting more than makes up for the cost of overnight shipping. I just want it.

Posted by: oosik77

I paid for 2nd day but from CA it just takes 1 day to AZ. BUT since the units don't have to go all the way out east first, by truck no doubt, I'm more than willing to just leave the freight charge as it is. Whatever gets it here the quickest.

Just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary.

Take a look at http://squall.sfsu.edu/crws/jetstream.html if you are interested. Looks like it is running mostly NW to SE right now. Hopefully it will shift in the next 1.5-2 weeks! :-) http://www.weatherimages.org/data/imag192.html gives some more images and also shows that it does not always run W->E, sometimes, it is N->S and even somewhat Eastwards at times (of course, those are forcasts).

Correct me if I am wrong, but Robert isn't changing anything. Many assumed he would ship from his home location--but did he ever say that was the case. I know many companies including the one I work for will drop ship from completely different locations.

I too assumed that he would ship from NJ when I choose regular delivery (which would take two days in my case) but I don't think it is accurate to say he has changed anything--unless there is something I'm missing.

I don't think he ever said he was shipping from his business, but he never said he wasn't, and the terminology of "we expect to receive the first shipment of XX units" does have an implication.

So far, I've not really seen anyone complaining about it; only wanting to know for sure so they can adjust their shipping method in time accordingly. ;)

(BTW, they're in NY, not NJ)

Has Robert actually confirmed he's shipping from SoCal?

I havn't actually seen anything from him which said he was, I thought I'd seen things which said he wasn't.

Would Robert care to chip in here?

V.E. is great!

Just switched from Dishnetwork, lost all CBS and Viacom channels today.

I just ordered a SD Tivo, two regulars , and Pre-ordered the HD Tivo.

I also posted on two other forums about how good of deal it is for the many others that want to switch today. Bet the phone lines get busy at V.E. over the next few days Thanks to Viacom.

I checked around at 4 other Web Dealers and 2 stores.

Vaule E is the best in price and there people know what they are talking about.

Shoping around today . . . .

One online retailer did not even know what a HD Tivo was and had to take a message to call me back (they never did call back).

One wanted $1199 for a HD Tivo Pre Order

One would not promise any price on the HD Tivo.

One said they were only taking names for call backs when they come in.

One said the Tivo can record HD already (guess which store?)

If Robert ships from California everyone should benefit by not requiring the ground transit from California to NY. With all the discussion about changing the shipping method and the amount of work that will create for VE, I wouldn't be surprised if Robert nixes the whole idea.

Why not just leave it alone?

I certainly wouldn't speak for Robert but I'm guessing this pre-order blew him away and he didn't expect such an overwhelming response. He has now put his reputation (which is excellent) to the test with such a large undertaking. He wants to make sure this goes without a hitch and if going to CA. for whatever reason expedites this order he is making a sound business decision.

Sorry for the trouble you guys had to go through today, but you will not regret the TiVo-based DVR's you're now going to be using. They are so much more effective in helping you manage your television watching, it'll make you wonder why you ever thought Dish Network had a PVR. ;)

Amen. I made the switch long ago and have never regretted it. In fact, the only reason I could pre-order the HD TiVo was because my wife likes it so much she didn't think watching HDTV was worthwhile without it!

Hmmm... Additional basic receivers free, additional TiVo receivers 100-150/each. And then there's the issue of having to run the second cable if you want to use it to the fullest and the likelihood these may be for rooms where only occasional "background" TV viewing is done... I can understand it.

I did the same, and will explain why. The SD Tivo was a $39 upgrade charge. The two recievers were free. And while I wait for my HD Tivo, they get me the 2 lines installed into the room that I need :). When the HD tivo comes, the SD version goes upstairs to my bedroom and the 2 normal receivers get deactivated.

Did Robert change the $100 off when pre-ordering? I know a $100 deposit is still required, but the website doesn't mention $100 off of the $999 price. Please tell me this isn't gone now.

Use the link at the top of the preorder list in this thread... that offer of up to $100 off is only for forum members, so you won't find it by going through his regular web site.

That's only if you go to the main homepage. If you go to http://www.valueelectronics.com/avsTC.htm it's still there.

*edit* You're too quick for me Doug!

Now that is the most sensible suggestion I have heard in a long time!!!! How about it Robert? Denver is probably the largest mountain standard hub available and, by coincidence, not that far from Colorado Springs. In fact, I may just have to come up and 'help' you ready the packages for shipment! :-)

Wow. You guys are fast.

I'm in Dallas -- East/West.... it's all the same to me ... JUST GET IT TO ME!

I'm more anxious to hear how many HD-D*TiVos Robert is going to be allocated from the first batch. I agree with a lot of you, shipping from San Diego is a great thing, a bonus for those that get their HD-D*TiVo's from the first batch. There is no way that anyone else could come close to that kind of service if Robert is able to do it. I know I sure appreciate Robert and VE!

Just think the first batch could be on the way in 3 weeks!

Mercurial,

My take: they have all the DTivo's you would want for 99.99 + tax.

For my bedroom I added a DTivo but only use 1 line in (only have 8 lines out and all but 7 were in use) which is no worse than a regular receiver. I get the same viewing as a regular receiver but also the ability to time shift making the whole experience much more valuable to me. Again, if the added charge to purchase is significant to you then I could appreciate your logic. To each their own.

I have 2 dtivo's in my family room, 1 in my bsmt and 1 in my bedroom. If I were to try to remove any one of them I would be in a fight with my family.

What's Background TV viewing?

"I just ordered a SD Tivo, two regulars , and Pre-ordered the HD Tivo."

Yes that is my plan. Get the lines all ran, the two regulars will be in the room of the new HD Tivo, then once the HDTivo is here and after the Two regulars have been up for 30 days, they get turned off and used from emergency spares.

The line for the new HD Tivo will be all preped and ready. I will just plug it in.

I just (January) sold an extra SD Tivo on ebay for $289. In your case I would have paid the $39 upcharge for the SD Tivo's and sold them when I was done. I would bet the farm you would come out ahead in the end and have some $$ left over to help pay for the HD Tivo.

I went with the 99.99 HD promo at DirecTV a few months ago, I will be selling my HD receiver on ebay shortly and use the proceeds to help with the costs of the HD Tivo I've ordered.

In any event, as a former echostar subscriber you will not be sorry you switched. I only wished I'd switched sooner.

My order number is 12554 . I ordered around 4:4? PM on 1/16/2004. I was told I am in postion #80.

Well, $100/per room doesn't make sense to me in rooms that don't get much TV viewing in them like our guest room or MBR. I'd consider putting a TiVo in there if the price is right but we do almost all our TV viewing in the Family Room or Rec Room where there are TiVos. I can get one $99 TiVo from D* installed per year (which I may do for our MBR) but if I go on-line to get a second for the guest room, for an existing sub that's over about $140 installed if I recall. Perhaps there are better deals. Or I can go to BB/CC/etc. and get it for $99 without installation. That doesn't make economic sense to me unless there was more viewing time in those rooms.

Background TV Viewing:

-Putting on Nick/Disney for 10-15 minutes so our 2 1/2 year old will sit still long enough for us to grab a shower.
-Putting something on for background noise while cleaning up or cooking in the kitchen.
-Putting something on for background noise while I read (since for some reason these days I fall asleep when I try to do that in quiet room, probably because of said 2 1/2 year old).

All of these things wouldn't require a TiVo at all.

another advantage of having tivos even in hardly used rooms, is backup. you never know when your drive might head south and being able to at least watch your favorite show finale on aonther tivo is priceless.

Having to maintain a SP list on additional TiVos would be a real headache. If they ever give us HMO like features and include a more centralized management (i.e. web-based) then that might be attractive. I have enough friends with TiVos and the same SPs, I'm not too worried about getting a taped copy if push comes to shove. Obviously, YMMV.

(Anyone else think they should add TiVo and several other common terms to the base dictionary for the spell checker?)

Extra SD receivers would be more plentiful at my house except for the stupid $5.00 monthly fee per receiver...grumble grumble. Not sure my guest rooms (or guests) are worth $120.00 a year. Gotta save the pennies for HD toys for me. Backfeeds over coax from receivers in other rooms work almost well enough.

I too assumed that he would ship from NJ when I choose regular delivery (which would take two days in my case) but I don't think it is accurate to say he has changed anything--unless there is something I'm missing.

You are correct - as a matter of fact when I recently ordered my original 3 room D* setup the equipment came from Arkansas and not NY.

2 things:
  1. Tweeter: I visited Tweeter, a New England audio/video chain today. They claimed--after checking their system for a few minutes--that they'll be receiving their first shipment of HD DirecTiVos on April 15. Anybody else hear this?
  2. HD upgrade deal: I've seen a lot of posts about a $99 HD upgrade deal for loyal (>2 year, I think) subscribers. What is this deal and how does it work? I see nothing about it on the DirecTV website...

Thanks!

For the $99 deal check this thread out.

Thanks, Larry. I just called DirecTV. The CSR I spoke with insisted that "they do not now, nor have they ever offered the HD upgrade for $99." She offered me $50 off the $399, but that's it. I asked her if she could check with somebody else to be sure since there are apparently many people that have received this deal. She simply repeated her original line like a robot. Maddening that she knew nothing about it and was unwilling to check with some one else. Oh well. Any ideas?
