How is Arrested Development doing?

Fox likes to cancel a lot of good shows (like Futurama, The Family Guy and Freaks and Geeks) and I was just wondering how they are treating AD?

First, Freaks & Geeks was on NBC, not FOX.

FOX kept Futurama for 5 seasons...over 70 episodes. Family Guy lasted 3 seasons - 50 episodes.

AD isn't doing great in ratings but it's not doing awful either. I think it's holding a decent amount of Malcolm's audience. It should definately last all season at this point. Renewal is up in the air but I think it has a good shot.

That's ok, we can still blame Fox. That's what I always do. It's Fox's fault. :)

The show has been nominated for a Golden Globe, and there are some who think it has a decent chance to win the category. The show has been slated for a full season, but now it depends on whether it'll be picked up for next year. I enjoy the show a great deal, and would like to see it get another year or two...hopefull Fox will give it another year or so to grow then make the hard choice if needed.

Hmm..I could have sworn it was Fox...

Guess I'm turning dumb.

Judd Apatow's follow up show Undeclared was on FOX and probably cancelled before its time (Although I didn't find it nearly as good as F&G). Thats probably where your confusion is coming from.

I am worried David Cross may be leaving - this weeks summary says Tobias leave sto go to Boston, and on the last show he wasn't even on....anyone heard anything?

FWIW, David Cross was at the Golden Globes tonight with the rest of the cast. He was wearing an extremely visible horrible green fur coat, so he was hard to miss.

Those "next on..." bits at the end are fake.

In an interview I heard him say that Odenkirk bet him $5 to wear the coat.

Just saw the Fox schedule for sweeps in February. Arrested Development has 3 new episodes the 4th Sunday is 'Star Wars'.

Yes but for both shows, particularly Family Guy, they fulfilled their obligations to the episodes by throwing them on random places and times rather than ever having a weekly schedule. I remember several times when Fox would be facing something guaranteed to get major ratings (such as a Survivor or Friends finale), and would "throw in the towel" and air 4 new episodes of Family Guy against it.

Futurama's battle versus King of the Hill for any shot on Sunday nights is also pretty well documented. Always struck me as odd that they went with the guy who made money for another network rather than someone who made tons for their own.

He wasn't talking about the fake previews at the end of the episodes, he was talking about the episode summary in the guide data. There is also this:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
The next episode summary says that Lindsay is going to seek a divorce. It could all just be part of the plot, but it sure seems like the last few episodes have minimized Tobias and focused much more on the Bluth family directly. Not a good sign for David Cross, IMO.

I don't care for Tobias' character. I'd like to see more Buster...but I guess he'd need to stop wearing that wallpaper shirt :D

How is this David Cross and why does everyone like him so much? I've never even seen him before this show. At least not anywhere I can remember.

His role has been so limited on AD that I focus more on the other charachters. Job is really starting to crack me up big time.

I didn't recognize David Cross when I first started watching AD, but after seeing him sans moustache on Celebrity Poker, I realized he played Eliot's "not-so-mentally-challenged" brother on "Just Shoot Me." If you ever saw that show, you'll remember "Chicken Pot, Chicken Pot, Chicken Pot Pie." That was David Cross.

His imdb page turns up lots of smaller roles but nothing the masses would recognize him from. I also think he does stand-up comedy.

He's a fairly well-known stand up comedian, and he was one half of the duo that created what a lot of people consider the best sketch comedy show ever, HBO's "Mr. Show With Bob and David."

"Just Shoot Me" had a bunch of stinkers but Cross was hilarious in that! I try to catch it every time it comes up in syndication.

As far as I can tell, Arrested Development hasn't had a hit since "Tennessee" in what, '92?
