Reboot loop on drive B add

I'm adding a new Seagate 120GB drive to my DirectTiVo 40GB system. I made the backup, tested and then added the B drive using mfsadd -x. Now the system is in a reboot loop at the 'almost there' screen. I've checked drive jumpers (tried master/slave and cable select) and tried different cables, but the problem persists.
I've also run complete diagnostics on the Seagate and stock Maxtor, and both drives check out clean. Could this be a swap issue? I don't see a green screen when the reboot occurs, just the almost there screen.
My next course of action, unless someone has a suggestion, is to restore the backup image and start over. If I do this, should I make the new Seagate the A drive, or does it even matter?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

why keep the 40 gig in there at all? backup up and restore to the lone 120, and keep the 40 for when it dies. only put 2 drives in a unit if your gonna go big on both, its not worth it in the end............

Well, too late now anyway. I restored to the set using -s 127 and it worked fine. I just lost my programs, but no big deal. I guess it was the swap space. I wonder why this doesn't affect everyone?

No, it's not the swap space - you see the green screen quite clearly when that happens. Your symptoms suggest that the TiVo couldn't see the B drive, which would be a cable or jumper problem, although it's a bit late now, sorry.
