moving upgraded drive to another Tivo

I have upgraded my sony Sat-60. I added a 120gb drive. I am no longer able to have directv so I purchased a series 2 for my cable.
Can I move the 120gb drive from the directv to the series2? What will happen to my sat-60? Will I need to do anything to it?
thanks

Sorry, no. You don't want to move a drive from one unit to another (of a different type). They have different hardware, and it probably won't work. And in the rare case where it might work, if your unit calls into TiVo and tries to download an upgrade, it would probably get an upgrade for the wrong machine type and have other problems. I remember reading that this has happened in the past (with the Series 1 Philips & Sony machines, which are close but not identical) and it really confused TiVo's servers for a while.
Also, I've herad that with the latest software, even moving a drive from one TiVo of a given model to another of the same model will render the unit unable to record, and unable to watch the saved shows, until a "clear and delete everything" has been performed.
Your best bet would be to start using the new unit fresh, and just keep the old one around long enough to watch the shows that you've got saved on it.

On second thought, I think I misunderstood what you were trying to do...
If you want to move the B drive over to expand the new unit, you can do that. But before you do, you need to make a backup of the 2-drive Direct TV unit using the -s option (to divorce the drives). Then, restore this backup onto the one drive you intend to keep in the unit. (To be really safe, you should test your backup by restoring onto a spare drive first, before you mess up the married set by restoring to one of its drives. But if you're brave, or know where you can get a good T-60 backup (PM me), you don't have to.)
Once you have your T-60 running on only one drive, you can take the other drive and use it to expand your new Series 2 machine. It will be wiped clean by the tools that add it to the new unit.

sound like more work then just buying a new drive for the new unit.
thanks though.
