does anybody watch tru calling

I watch it

Posted by: ClutchBrake

I've recorded them but never watched them.

I'm caught up. I've seen every episode aired. I like it, it's a pretty good show.

I watched the first couple episodes and dropped it. Not so much because I didn't care for it, more that I was watching too much TV, and my Tivo queue was getting huge and behind so I had to prune a few shows from my SP list. I figured it would be one show that would be lucky to make it through the season anyway.

I watch it, but not immediately. I usually get to it on Tues or Wed, and its a Thursday show. The sub plot with the Dr. in the morgue could be interesting.

It has the same kind of feel as Quantum Leap and Early Edition. I'd love to see it tied in to either of those two.

well, they seem to taking a page from QL's book.....

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

Jason Priestly will be joining the cast shortly as another morgue attendent.
Scuttlebutt is that he will be Tru's opposite number..

He's going to kill people? Is he the Grim Reaper?

What I heard was that he's going try to hinder Tru's efforts and make sure that the dead stay dead. Not sure how far he will take it.

I watch it... I like it... It's not a show that I would be incredibly pissed off if they cancelled it... But it is good entertainment...

The one thing I don't like about it... they seem to think their audience is pretty stupid... they draw conclusions outloud that most people would draw without them stating it aloud... they also run a mid-episode "previously in the last 30 minutes of Tru Calling" segment that is pretty irritating...

I like Tru, but my goodness do they ever think their audience is stupid. The so called plot shocker is so freaking obvious it is becoming insulting. They need to fix that in a hurry.

Posted by: Philosofy

I think the "previously" at the halfway point to catch up on any viewers changing over from Friends. (They do overlap, don't they?)

Posted by: jwjody

I've missed one ep and I think that was the one where Davis was killed or was suspected of being the killer. Did they explain in that ep how he knows about Tru's powers?

J

The "previously" doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when, in the middle of the episode, they show what is coming up in the next half hour. WTF?! This was done with Smallville several times. Don't know if it was just my local affiliate. Now I make extra certain to wait until I am back in the show before playing.

No, I think that was the ep where he was about to say something really profound but they got interrupted and it never happened.

I'll agree that the show thinks we're stupid. The book connection in the last show was pretty darn obvious.

He just told her that he noticed since she started working there, there was a lot less dead people coming in. I don't think that explains it though: he knows more than he is saying, even since Tru let him in on what happens.

I watch it. It's not great, the show is very formulaic. Still entertaining enough to watch.

Posted by: ronbo

I like it. My favorite part is when she runs in the opening credits ;)

I've not yet caught it. I did catch the rerun of the pilot episode of Joan of Arcadia a few months ago. It was pretty good.

I just watched all the episodes over the past week or so and all the comments here are right on. Good show, but they need to write to a brighter audience. They spend half the episode chasing the wrong people/angle pretty much every time and the solution/twist is so obvious that I do think I have ever been fooled (possible exception is the car racing one (where's the love for my 3000GT with everyone fawning over the Stealth - yuck)).

The cut over from Friends would be a good explanation for the "Hey short attention span viewers - let's recap" break midway, it is pretty silly otherwise.

For a girl that runs everywhere when she is not busy borrowing Harry's car or stealing Meredith's she sure wears some poor choices in shoes. She more than makes up for it in her choice of tops to run in. ;)

There is a 3000GT in one of the Episodes? I'll have to try and catch it in re-runs.

We are still watching it, although we often make fun of it during the show. We are considering starting to watch it at the 30 minute mark since they annoy us with that recap anyway.

Nope, it's an older Stealth TT. Some rich kid gets one and all the rich kids and the obligatory poor kid with a fast car just ooh and ahh over it. I think the 3000GT VR4 is sadly overlooked and I never figured out why. Mine is a '96 and I just sold it to my 18yo and saved him from a life of tweaking out a Civic and getting a loud buzzy muffler in lieu of performance.

I like it. Serious suspension of disbelief required, but at least they remain consistent with the "rules" of the do-over days.

It was heavily modified with silly body parts. Took me a couple of minutes to realize it was a Stealth.
