My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance 1/26 Spoilers

This show has a major "cringe factor". I often find myself wanting to cover my eyes and peek through my fingers! But all in all its absolutely hilarious.
Randi needs to loosen up a bit. She needs to get it into her head that she's an actor playing a role if she wants to win the money. She needs to start acting like she likes the guy, including touching, hugging, kissing if need be, no matter her feelings of revulsion. If she can't do that then she's probably not going to fool the friend, and she's definitely not going to fool her family. Her family may be reserved, but surely they don't keep the people they love at arm's length with no physical contact whatsoever.
I can't wait to see Steve's "family"! That'll be a hoot. :)

Is it me, or is there only like 20 minutes of actual "show" in this hour? It seemed like there was a 10 minute retrospective in the beginning and then after every commercial break they re-hashed everything.
This show would be good if there was a show there. Seems like they didn't film ebough or something.
And a sex therapist? That's just dopey.

I know what you mean we started seeing the show around 10:08 and by 10:40 we were done after fowarding commercials and retrospectives.

She should get the money NO MATTER WHAT.
Great show, but if they put her through all this and someone objects at the wedding and she doesn't get the money, something's seriously wrong.
Really waiting for Steve's family. Steve has THE BEST JOB!

A continuity thing that's been bothering me that could be just because I missed something...in all the interviews, Randi keeps saying she's going to win $1 million, but at the beginning they said she was going to get 250K for her, and 250K for her family. Did I miss something?

She says something more like $1 million is at stake, not that she is going to receive the whole thing. She believes Steve will get $500,000 as well.

No I don't think you missed anything. Perhaps she is just referring to the fact that $1 million is up for grabs (500k for her and her family, 500k for his side)
Also, why the heck did she care so much about getting an appropriate wedding cake?? By the time the wedding cake comes into play she would have won already!!
I find Randi quite annoying/childish/spoiled/stuck up.
- She signed up for a reality show without knowing anything about it, and now she is upset about what she has to do?
- She constantly thinks Steve is falling in love with her. She may be kinda pretty in a Sarah Michelle Gellar kind of way, but come on, get over yourself!
- She consistently worries about how he will look in front of her family, but hasn't uttered a word of trepidation about meeting his.
- She seems incapable of relaxing.
Bah! Why am I watching this show?! :)

I think 1 time she said if we are going to win 1 million then he needs to act better. I think she was saying that they would get a total of 1 million, 500,000 for her and her family, and she thinks the same for him. They keep replaying her saying that.
jschuman beat me to it.

I just think she is very muched concerned how she is perceived, and that she wouldn't be caught dead with a cake with a topper on it. Not that she wants the perfect cake, because as you said, it won't matter.

Agreed. It just seems that this might have been a good opportunity (from her point of view) to just let Steve "win one" and be a good sport. Alas, it is not in her to do that.

the only way she will be able to pull this off, is if she starts acting like Steve. She should know by now, that there is no way he is going to behave himself. She needs to pretend that appearing on the reality show really turned her into a tacky redneck.

Randi needs to get over herself. Sure - she's cute. Steve is cute, too, in spite of being a bit overweight. Does she think she's so above him that he could never deserve someone like her?? Plus, he has a fun personality. Randi claims to be fun, but IMO, people who 'claim' to be fun are generally NOT.
Having said that, if Steve wants to win his 1/2 of the $, he needs to tone it down just a little bit. He can still have a lot of fun with it, but why go way overboard and blow his chances of making it to the wedding day? ( I'm really not sure what Steve really gets out of this show, financially speaking, other than what Randi has said about him getting 1/2 of 1 mil. Can someone clue me in? )

Steve does not get the money. He is just a hired actor. He has no interest in seeing Randi succeed or fail except what the producers of the show deem as a successful show, meaning, his goal may or may not be for Randi to succeed but rather just produce enough drama for a good show.

hmmm, maybe Fox doesn't do enough 'recapping' on each episode. ;)

She will get some money no matter what... FOX wouldn't chance being sued.
That sex therapist part was funny. I would have definitely told some 'dress up' stories about her to make her even more uncomfortable.
That sushi he spit out looked really good... I am glad he made it a point to compliment that piece of Maguro Tuna.

A friend was telling me that "Steve" did a radio interview the other morning with one of the NYC stations. Turns out he's married in real life and his wife is loving his antics on the show so far.
I think the best way to turn the screws at the end would be to have one of Steve's relatives get edgy about showing up. Randi already spins everything to be about her...she can't even imagine the possibility that Steve's familty might screw it up ;)

Exactly what I've been thinking. The scam (as far as Randi knows) is that they both have to get their families to show up and not object. She's so full of herself that it hasn't even occurred to her yet that anyone from his family might not like her.
I still don't know whether her resistance to any kissing, etc. is out of her revulsion of Steve, or, as she claims, simply because she isn't into public displays of affection.
Also, they (the show) seemed to make too big a deal out of the wedding planner and sex therapist meetings. Since she obviously didn't want to be kissing him, etc., she could have pointed out to him that they didn't really have to fool those people, at least not to the extent they do their friends and family.

She does if Fox wants her to. I'm sure there are a lot more rules than we are prevy to in the legal contract.

Just a bit of trivia for any Buffy fans also watching this show (and I'm spoilerizing it, just in case there are buffy fans here who aren't caught up to Season 6 yet):
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Steve played the cave demon who gave Spike back his soul in the Season 6 finale.

I think what Steve "gets" out of the show is a job. He is an unknown actor suddenly starring in a prime time show.

Was it the editing, or did she keep repeating "I have a list" over and over again...

I am certain that she is going to get the money no matter what. They are not going to make her the butt of the joke to this level and not reward. That would be in bad taste.....even for Fox. :)
