Does anyone know how to turn on the USB port of a serioes 2 Directv Tivo? I have a Hughes 35 hour model. I would like to network my Tivo to my home computer.

I did this on my DSR 7000. The software side of it is involved--you'll need to visit the "other board"--read the thread entitled Series 2 Scripts, U5, Monte and Prom with Many Hacks thread (aka, "sleeper's ISO"). As needed, do a google search under that title, and you'll find the site.

For hardware, you'll need a USB to Ethernet converter--go to Tivo's website and buy one that is supported. I use the Dlink DUB E100 and an 802.11b wireless bridge on mine, since I'm not into extraction (yet anyway).

You can also search the "other board" to find other compatible hardware--I did not find much on wireless USB adapters yet, but they are supported for Series 2 SA's running SW 4.0, so that likely means I've missed something or necessary drivers haven't been "figured out" yet for the Series 2 DTivo's.
