Not able to Access TiVoWeb from Work

I can access TiVoWeb through my local Lan and through the internet using my IP address. The problem that I am having is accessing it through work. My guess is that it may have something to do with the proxy server at work, although I have never had a problem accessing any other site.
I have enabled access to TiVoWeb by opening a port with my NetGear router; I am using a Username and Password set up in the config file. Just to make sure the password and port numbers were not the problem, I also tried to access TiVoWeb from work with no security (i.e. port 80, and no username and password) and there is still no response. Whenever I try to access it from work I get a 504 Gateway Timeout error. I have tried the specific dynamic IP address as well as a domain name I set up at www.no-ip.com and still no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

What's your ISP? Cox blocks port 80 inbound.

I have Verizon DSL. I don't think the port is being blocked because I have been able to reach TiVoWeb from the internet, just not from work.

i bet the domain name resolution is screwy for no-ip.com at you job, did you try using the IP number?

Yes, I've tried to connect using the IP number, taking the 'no-ip' address resolution out of the picture.
I am able to test this situation pretty well since I can connect to work from home. I can log on to work and try connecting to TiVoWeb with the IP address and I am unable to connect. I can disconnect from work and then use the same IP address and I am able to bring up TiVoWeb.

Your sysadmin at work may be blocking you. They may know your IP address and have decided to block port 80, or may be blocking your IP address altogether. Are you able to access other things at your house from work?
Try setting up TivoWeb to use a different port, you can change that in the config file. Then, you would get to it by using http://yourip:port.

Yes I can access other sites while logged into work. I don't know how they would know to block my specific IP; are you thinking the sys admins have it set up to block a specific 'range' of IP's?

Yes throughout this process I have set up the config file to use various ports (80, 8081, 410).

If they have found that you have a large amount of activity to that address, they may have decided to block your specific IP address. Sysadmins are notorious for doing such things and not telling you about it, just to drive you crazy!
Perhaps you should test this somewhere other than your house or work. It may be possible that you don't have the routing set up correctly.
Go to a friends house and try it. It may also be possible that your ISP is blocking traffic to your house. When I had my DSL installed, I had to get the ISP to turn off their firewall service.

I don't think they are blocking that specific address because I have never even connected to that address. That's why I was thinking maybe they have a range that they have pre-determined are not allowed.

I have successfully tested connecting to TiVoWeb at my brother's house.

Well, my problem of accessing TiVoWeb from work has been solved by using port 443. This is the port normally used for https communication. I’m not really sure why this works, but my guess is that my work allows communication through this secure port for ‘unknown’ sites. Thanks to all that chimed in.
