Is it possible to flash new firmware to....

I have a Sony SAT-T60 with a dead modem and I also have a Hughes just sitting around not being used. I want to take the motherboard from the Hughes and put it in the sony but I know that it will cause problems with TiVo trying to update the software to make it match the Hughes hardware. Is it possible to flash the firmware in the Hughes with the Sony Firmware? I much prefer the remote on the Sony and thats why I want to do this.

What Hughes - A S1 or S2?
If S1 you can drop the Hughes MB in the Sony box, but you have to use the Hughes remote or a programmable Sony (like my VL900).
I think somebody has switched the IR codes, but I could not find a relavent article.
You can load a Sony image on the Hughes MB and use the Sony remote, but then you need to never let it call in. It will try to download the SW over and over again and you become an official Moron(tm).

Its a S1 Hughes and the motherboards look identical. I do know about the software issue and I'm trying real hard not be become an official Moron (tm) :D I was hoping that there would be some way to flash the kernal with Sony firmware to make this work. Oh well, I guess I'll get the modem repair kit and go from there.
