Viewing the forum on a pocketpc

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Any of you gurus out there use a pocketpc or pda to browse the Tivocommunity forums?

I've got my wireless network set up, and I love browsing the net while I'm in bed w/ my Dell Axim, but browsing the TC is somewhat unsatisfying. Wonder if any of you have any tips or tricks to make this a more useful experience.

Thanks,

I do not...but you may care to try the question in another forum section.

The only tip I can offer when viewing TC Forum on a PDA, or any other small screen, is to go to your profile and turn off the options to display other users' avatars and signatures. It will make the pages on the PDA load a little faster and be easier to scroll. If you like avatars and signatures when browsing on a PC, though, you'd have to remember to change your settings again. That could be a pain....

Just thought of another idea: You could also find a thread you're interested in and click the link at the top of the page to view the thread in "printable view". That doesn't help with forum views, but it may be useful on a PDA.

David,

Thanks-- Thought I would try here first.

Drew

Great suggestion-- That's EXACTLY the kind of thing I was looking for. Printable view. Duh, I should have thought of that.

Thanks,

David

A few month ago I started using AvantGo on my PDA and love it, no I don't mean that I can get AVS or TC through AvantGo although that would be awesome.

I am going to experiment to see if I can figure out a way to get my subscribed threads to auto-download onto my PDA so I can read them away from an internet connection.

Treocentral.com has a copy of their boards set for PDA views, they use the same software (vBulletin) as here, might be worthwhile to see how they did it.

(unfortunately right now the link seems to be broken)

Their is software that can be bought (that is what they use), but it is not cheep and thus something I would not want to include for it's limited use.
