Windows 2000 wasted my Tivo Drive
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: T_Hayes
I’ve succeeded in corrupting my A drive while trying to upgrade my single-drive Tivo to a two-drive Tivo. I mistakenly allowed Windows 2000 to boot once while the A drive was connected, and sure enough just Hinsdale's instructions warned, I can no longer access my A drive.
Anyone know how I can recover the drive? Detailed instructions would be most beneficial!
Thanks!

Did you make a backup of the drive before the incident?

Mike,
No, unfortunately I didn't get that far. I feel like a real noodge!

MakeTiVoBootable

OK,
Haven't tried MakeTiVoBootable yet. Instead, I went with my new replacement 120GB drive and made it my new A drive. I placed my unrecognizable A drive on the shelf for now.
I proceeded to find an image on the web that I could put on the new, replacement A drive, copied it, put it into the TiVo, and everything worked great! I put all of my setup back in, including Season Passes, Channels I get, etc. only to find out that the damn thing won't record until I clear and delete everything!!!!!!!!
Warning to everyone else out there!!! If you get an image from the web, the first thing you want to do is Clear and Delete Everything!!!
Then rebuild what you had! Otherwise you'll lose it all!!!
FWIW,

BTW,
I'm still waiting for the Clear and Delete Everything to complete, so I can't verify that this will solve my problem with not being able to record anything.
We'll have to wait and see.
I just wanted to warn anybody trying this at the moment. It appears that a Clear and Delete Everything is the first order of business after copying a new image to your TiVo, if the image came from a TiVo other than the destination TiVo...

BTW, there is a way of NOT clearing and deleting everything, you should have posted first.............

For future reference, what would that way be, Greek?
