Im having trouble deciding which HD to upgrade with. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices in size (120gb or 160gb). This will be a drive replacement. I need to see what brand people recommend, and where I should buy them at.
Two drives that I've been seriously considering are the Samsung 120gb or the 160gb, 88.00 or 103.00 respectivley at Newegg (free shipping), with a 3 year warranty. I havent heard many say anything negative about the samsungs.
Please give me your input on the best drive for the money!!
Should I upgrade the drive before I record shows on it? Does it matter if I have a few hours of programming on the original drive?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Really doesn't matter, both drives are excellent and almost always trouble-free (you should still run the Samsung diagnostics on it, of course). As for "best drive for the money" the 120GB would be, as you'll only be able to use 137GB of the 160GB on the Series2. But if you value the additional capacity the 160GB will yield, then by all means, go for it.

Thanks for all the help and good information.
I have 2 DirecTivo's scheduled for install on 2-18-2004.
I ordered a 160gb Samsung drive from Newegg.com for 103.00 (free shipping). If that goes hitch free, I will prolly order another for the 2nd Tivo.
