No Jean Claude Van Dammes were hurt during the filming of this show. Funny!
Is there anybody that Ed doesn't know?
Posted by: ScottE22
I've lost interest in this show. I watched it on TiVo with about a 20-minute delay and ended up working on my laptop for most of it. Is it just me or has it started to take a turn for the worse?

I got a kick out of that also.
From what I've seen this is only an OK show, I think it has potential to be really good but they seem to be focusing on eye candy rather than plots.

Last time I checked, Nikki Cox, Vanessa Marcil, and Molly Sims are all still on it, so, no it hasn't taken any bad turns :)

You know, you're right... Maybe I'll just put it on mute :D
I think Sam is smokin' hot. The scene with the Karate Kid 2 guy last night was such a tease... On the other hand, Nikki Cox is OK and Molly Sims, while beautiful, annoys me for some reason.

Last weeks episode was a riot... her delusional paranoia was well done... Very funny in all of her scenes...

Does anyone else watch this show in High Def? I went to watch it last night (this one I actually watch live because of the High Def) and it wasn't in Wide-Screen like all the previous episodes have been. Anyone know what gives?

I like this one better than the last couple of weeks.
The reason is, I believe is location shooting.

It was HD in Cleveland.

Liked this episode for the action and the mystery of the plot, although both were pretty weak. I'm not as high on this show as I was earlier in the season but what else am I going to record at 8 pm on Monday? Raymond? Obnoxious Fiance? I think not.

Anyone care to give me a plot summary? My SA TiVo crapped out last night (bad drive, I think) and I can't get networks on my DirecTiVo.
I could get it off the 'net I'm sure, but since the last ep. I got to see was the crappy one with the power outage, I'm not too high on the show at the moment. I don't think I'll spend the time looking for it.

There was a movie being filmed at the hotel, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. There was a stunt that was a fly off the hotel on a motorcycle, with the stunt person tied to a bungee. Van Damme decided he wanted to do the stunt himself, instead of his stunt man whom he hated (and vice versa).. it turned out also that the stunt man was doing the director's wife... so the director rigged the bike to screw up to kill the stunt guy, but since JC did the stunt, he died. The show was about them finding the person responsible....
At the end, they caught the director when he walked in on the stunt man and his wife, and tried to shoot the guy.
Also a lame storyline about a rival Casino Host and Sam trying to screw each other over.. she got the last laugh, though....

Jean-Claude Van Damme is filming a movie at the Montecito. Of course Ed knows him and they are on a first-name basis. One of the stuntmen is a marine buddy of Danny's. They find out this stuntman and Van Damme to not like each other. Big stunt in the film is to be a motorcycle ride off the top of the 50-story Montecito. Stuntman is all excited to do the stunt, but Van Damme pulls strings and gets the studio boss to let him do the stunt, against the wishes of the director. Harness breaks during the stunt and Van Damme falls to his death.
Insurance investigators think it was an accident but LVPD and the Montecito boys don't think so. After initially suspecting the stuntman who didn't like Van Damme, it turns out the stuntman was actually sleeping with the director's wife and the director rigged the stunt to kill the stuntman. He realized too late that Van Damme was actually doing the stunt. Ed and Danny set up a sting and get him to admit to rigging the stunt.
Side plot: Sam has a rivalry with a casino host from the Green Valley. He steals info from her PDA and jumbles up the info in hers, causing her to lose a client. She declares war and they go back and forth, stealing each other's clients. At the end of the ep, she tells him she wants to bury the hatchet and invites him up to her room. She gets him naked, handcuffs him to the bed and then leaves. As she leaves the room, we see a fat lady walking down the hall and Sam tells her she left her a present in her room.
We also find out that Mary dated the police detective while Danny was in the Marines. Danny confronts her about it, she gets defensive, and they have a bit of a fight. At the end of the ep, the detective asks Mary out and she accepts.

I thought this was the second to worst episode thus far. I think we all know which was the worst.

This was a great new episode of CSI.
Oh wait, it was Las Vegas..
Anyway, I think the plots are getting a little silly, but this one was both silly and weird. I don't think i've ever seen a TV show kill off a real live live person before.
But, i'm still on board, I love Vegas and hot girls, so i aint goin' anywhere.

It's just you.

Did anybody notice how they are already laying the groundwork for Ed to take his leave and Danny to take over?

Yup. The folks who were predicting this from the start look to be spot on.

I might have missed the discussion - which one do you consider the worst?
I noticed the groundwork for Danny to take over, but I didn't realize that there was speculation that JC would exit the show (I figured it was a Sopranos style conversation, like when Tony told Christopher he was the one partially to get him to shape up).
I heard JC interviewed recently (I think it was on Stern) and when asked why he was "slumming" on TV, he basically referred to the piles of cash that he was getting. I hope he stays on - without him I think the show would go into a tailspin. Danny is no harda$$.
I found the Sam/PDA plotline a bit strained. First off, why would she have her PDA out on the bar, especially if it contained so much important stuff. Secondly, if your data got corrupted like that, wouldn't you just resynch the thing? Instead, she sees two names out of place, shows it to Mike for about 3 seconds, and he tells her exactly what went down. Even a computer whiz valet would need a little more time to figure that out.

The blackout episode is considered by most to be the worst episode thus far.
I don't know if there has been published speculation about JC leaving the show but many members here have been speculating that JC would exit after one season.

because the entire viewing audience of this show isn't male and us chicks need some eye candy too.

Sorry, that excuse just doesn't fly. Chicks looking at chicks is natural, but dudes looking at dudes? Ugh. ;)

I still find it annoying how the montecito seems to jump around the strip like crazy. I mean, in this episode you had the opening shot that made it kinda look like the hotel is sitting on the airport runway (based on the position of mandalay bay and the rest of the strip), then the shots from the roof are all staring down the strip, from somewhere around the venetian. A previous episode had shots from the roof showing either the rio or the palms (can't remember which it was) in the background, which would place it on the opposite side of the strip tonights roof shots showed, and again closer to the location of mandalay bay. And of course with all the interioir shots looking like mandalay bay, it's just a little jarring.
Do like the show though, although I'll agree some of the more recent episodes haven't been as good. If Caan does leave, I'd be surprised if the show lasts.

The exterior shots are not supposed to be necessarily looking at or from the Montecito. I think they intentionally use shots of the whole strip in order to keep it vague as to where exactly the Montecito is. However, the one question I have about the exterior shots concerned the episode with Jon Lovitz on the roof of the Montecito. It was clearly shot from the roof of a casino in the neighborhood of the Venetian and Treasure Island. (I guess they could have used a green screen but the backgrounds they put in were of that area.)

I wasn't as impressed with this episode...
I mean, first we are led to believe that a casino could go dark for as long as it did, and now we are supposed to believe that a studio exec would allow a star to attempt a stunt like that? Well... first off, it would have been a full body harness instead of a loop just sewn into a jacket, secondly, I can buy that Van Dam does his own stunts, but nobody would have allowed a rider on his injury insurance that allowed him to drive off a 50 story building. And, not that it would have helped his cause, where was the big baloon on the ground? They wouldn't have allowed a bike to just crash onto the concrete....
Horrible story....

Keep in mind that Las Vegas if filmed in an alternate universe. I didn't realize that until this episode. What gave it away was the comment about Van Damme being the "world's biggest movie star".
