Cool... I was pleasantly surprised with the mini-series (I didn't have high expectations).

Great News.

Believe it or not some Hardcore fans of TOS was hoping it would not be picked up. To bad to be them ;)

Dang, MG beat me to it: http://www.tvbarn.com/ticker/archives/018936.html

See, now that I just don't understand. Is someone going to force them to watch?

Looking forward to it.

Excellent, good to see. Glad they were able to cut a deal.

I'm guessing we're not likely to see this until late in the fall, though.

I'm not so sure...they usually start new seasons in the summer, and if they're really going into production in a month, that's not unreasonable...

If so, wow! Stargate, SG:Atlantis, and BG...three science fiction shows on Sci-Fi at the same time! When's the last time THAT happened? :D

Posted by: BrettStah

When does SG:Atlantis start?

As of January, it was this summer.

Thanks, I had assumed (I know, I know) that since SG1 came back for an extra season that Atlantis was going to be pushed back... glad to hear otherwise!

I think a lot of people are just angry because they thought Richard Hatch's "Second Coming" concept would get picked up instead of the Ron Moore treatment. It's probably time they forgot about that.

I consider myself a HUGE fan of the original series and would liked to have seen Hatch, Dirk Benedict, Herb Jefferson, etc. reprise their roles, but I am keeping an open mind. Besides, Moore says he wants to involve some of the TOS actors. So, their may be an opportunity yet to see some of the old cast in new BG, just in different roles.

I haven't watched the miniseries yet, it's still saved on the TiVo, though. I'll get to it soon, I hope! However, everything I saw ahead of time looked good and Ron Moore did some great stuff with Trek. I'm looking forward to it and I hope the series does well.

Atlantis WAS pushed back--it was originally going to be last summer, after the feature film. And Stargate isn't back for "an extra season," it's back indefinitely.

If you haven't seen the miniseries yet, I suggest you rent the DVD instead. For a few bucks can you have an improved picture quality, no commercials, and deleted scenes.

Are you talking about the 2003 miniseries from SciFi? If so, I'm pretty sure that's not on DVD yet.

I'm not sure how they'll do it, but somehow Sci-Fi will manage to screw it up for the fans. I'll keep my fingers crossed they won't.

Any thoughts on if Sci-Fi will air all three shows in a monster block on Friday night, or put the shows on indiviually on weeknights?

What feature film? And are you saying SG1 will be back for more than 1 more season?

I heard that SG1 was up for this season and one more to run concurrently with the first season of SG: Atlantis. I would be more interested to see the casting on SG: Atlantis than when it starts. Let us hope they found folks as talented and willing to commit as RDA and the gang (I'll even include Michael Shanks in that as he only left for one season). I also heard something about a movie but IMDB doesn't have anything. They also have no cast details on SG: Atlantis.

As for BG, I missed the second-half of that. I didn't hear anything good about it. There were somethings they did just to be PC that didn't quite make sense. Again, just my opinion.

SG-1 was renewed for two seasons (this and next), and more importantly, for the first time in years, there was no talk about "This is it, after this it's over." Apparently, they finally got Richard Dean Anderson to quit talking about quitting (I'm guessing by paying him a lot to do not very much).

At one point, the plan was to do the "last season," then have a feature film, then have Atlantis. At the time, last season (not this season) would have been the last season, then the feature, then Atlantis, I believe all in pretty rapid succession. That was at a time when RDA was really really really going to quit.

I just want to know when they're going to bring Dr. Frasier out of hiding ...

This is my favorite Stargate SG-1 site:

Seems like Richard Dean Anderson and the show are gone after season 8.

Thanks for the link! All I'm going to say is:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
I love Jessica Steen (ever since Homefront and then Earth 2) and hope the spoilers are true and I can see MORE, MORE, MORE of her!
Edited to add: And now I'm bummed, because I followed all of the links and found out that I will only get to see her on SG1 ... so sad. :(

I know why bring in a different actress for the same role?

I kind of know what SG1 is (don't watch it but have seen a few episodes) but what is SG:Atlantis? what makes it different? will they be focusing on the fabled city of Atlantis or something?

This is the official premise:
quote:
A whole new adventure with a new team begins in the successful Stargate universe. In this spin-off from MGM Worldwide Television, a secret base left by the originators of the Stargate is found in the most unlikely of places: on Earth, buried within the ruins of the legendary civilization Atlantis. The implications of this discovery lead the team to a distant galaxy, where they find a primitive human civilization threatened by a sinister new enemy.
There's more information at http://www.gateworld.net/atlantis/index.shtml -- nothing too spoilery!

AH! I see. Thank you!

As a big fan of the original series I did not think I would like the new version on SciFi, but I thought it was great. I really liked the changes and think it will make a great new series.

Where did you read that? I tried to follow the link to the Yahoo article and it was expired. Maybe it only expired in the last several days.
