Traffic: The Miniseries

Did anyone else watch this on USA? I recorded the 6 hour block as one big piece. I enjoyed it a lot more than the movie. I could see how it and the movie we related, but also how they tried to make it a little different. Was it some amazing piece of work? No. But it was worth a watch.

Hi Frylock,

About the same time the movie came to TV, Trio(if I remember the station rightly) showed the original 1989 British miniseries Traffik . I agree with the link that this treatment was better than the movie.

I didn't record the USA Network's version, I wonder if anyone knows if it was different from Traffik??

Aside: I wish they would put Part numbers in the guide. You see "Miniseries" in the guide and people obsessed with seeing episodes in sequence can't tell whether they've missed some already. :)

Ditto. Glad to hear I made the right choice when I decided not to delete it.

I enjoyed it. Think it is worth watching.

Thanks, I'll try and catch it.

I, for one, loved the movie. I know several who didn't though, and emphaticly so.

The movie was basically an abridged remake of the original mini. The new mini was completely new.

I liked all three of them...

Is the mini 6 or 8 hours? I recorded the block when there were 4 2 hour episodes back to back. Not sure if the last one was just a replay of the first one. I've also seen it advertised as one big show but didn't notice how long it was.

I've watch the first two hours and like what I see so far.

Six hours.

The guide data threw me off so I didn't record anything. I hope they show it again. I enjoyed the movie enough to buy the DVD.

I hated the movie so much that i can't bring myself to watch anything that is supposed to be based on, or related to, it. Its a shame, since so many of you seemed to enjoy the mini, but, then again, maybe you all liked the movie, as well.

I'd love to catch the original Traffik. Is it still running on Trio.

And yes, Traffic is a pain to record as they don't number the parts. So if they run the 6 hour block again, just record it. Makes it easy to start and stop when you want.

The miniseries was good. Good guide data for me (interestingly episode 2 recorded before episode 1 based on conflicts, but that's okay as long as the TiVo knows each episode separately). The TiVo did record the six hours single episode as a separate piece on the SP, but that's okay too.

I also have it on TiVo but have not yet watched it. We'll see if I can find interest and time.

I saw it and thought it was ok. Not perfect but ok.

Haven't noticed Traffik on Trio for some time; you might try an ARWL for "Traffik" ? Unlike Google, TiVo won't yell at you for misspelling. :) I feel so much more ignorant when Google catches my goofs than when Word does. :)

Here's an Amazon link for the DVD @ $6.00; don't know how reliable the seller is though.

Thanks for tip on the USA Network's version; I'll check it out. Knowing it's also a 6 parter will help. I can do 1-2 parts a night, but can't really devote space for a 6 hour block.

It was 3 parts of 2 hours each in original format.

Saw it yesterday and loved it. Much better than I thought it would be.
