Split HDTV TiVo Powered PVR's into two forums:

a first for: HD DirecTiVo

and

a second for: HD TiVo's

The HD DirecTV TiVo's will be here soon and there will be CONSIDERABLE discussion about them.

Those that are not DirecTV people would benifit from having somewhere to discuss upcoming stand alone hd TiVo's and cable box options without wading through all the DirecTV specific stuff.

Stand alone HD TiVo. You know something we don't? TiVo was conspicuously silent about one at the recent CES. I think they're afraid competition from integrated cable DVR's with HD may be too strong, partularly at the price point it would have to enter the market at.

Any discussion of non-DirecTV HDTiVos is speculation at this time. If people clearly label their threads "SA" or "Cable" then there won't be any problems.

P.S. I think a standalone HD TiVo is a mythical object and will be for some time to come.

Huh?

TiVo has SA prototypes out... TiVo just bought Humax...

I think an SA OpenCable Tivo in 6-12 months is a forgone conclusion?

Fruther all the speculation is exactly why I think the discussion ought to be seperated from DirecTV discussion...
