Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Show (Spike TV) Spoilers!
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Was it just my imagination, or did Spike TV actually blur some of the swimsuits on this show last night? They weren't even bare breasts -- apparently too much was showing through the cloth.
What kind of "First Network for Men" is this, anyway?! Have they really become this prudish, or are they trying to goose the sales of the DVD?
So far I've refrained from replaying those moments to get confirmation of my suspicions. But more research may be called for. :D

The Swimsuit show used to be SO much better when it was on HBO.

How can you put a spoiler tag on a swimsuit thread? LOL We all know what we are going to see on there ;)

Yes, there were some of the suits that got the dreaded "blur." Seemed kind of hit and miss as there were some times that you could clearly see nipples and there was no blur and other times there was a blur. Some very hot women and the body painting...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Can't tell, but are you a guy?

yes.
I am a bit perplexed that guys get so worked up by what I can only describe as partial or almost porn. I guess I am curious why they don't just cut to the chase and get some porn. Is it that it is more respectable? I.e. the wife would not mind as much as opposed to if you brought home a seemore butts vid (is that how you spell his first name right?)

First, I wouldn't call this porn at all, but that's another topic of discusion all together.
A completely naked girl doing her thing in porn is not the same as a super model type in a slightly revealing bathing suite.
Some times the hint of nudity is sexier than being hit across the head with full on porn. Hence the reason why there is a Victoria Secrets and Frederick's of Holleywood in almost every mall across the country.
There are probably several factors at work here, but I don't think it is a correct assumption to assume that guys watch this for the same reason they watch porn, because if they really just wanted porn, they could easily get it.

Spike even blurs the cartoon strippers in Stripperella.

It's not new, at least one video that showed a girl getting pushed in a pool with a white top was blurred after. She was always covered. I think it was VH1 and a Cracker? video. This was months before the superbowl halftime.

I would have to say that it is almost porn especially in the way that folks go on about it. The random nipple shown through clothing here--the kind of almost seen lips there (and I am not talking about the ones on someone's head). . . If it is not porn (which I don't think it is) it attempts to get as close to it as it can and still be able call itself something else.

You make a good point with the last thing you said. I agree but I guess what I am trying to find out is: what is that certain something that they watch it for that is NOT porn. What is the attraction to it that is not related to porn? I guess it is complected because while it is not porn exactly there is something that ties it to porn or put another way . . do they both have the same base (watching porn and watching a show like Stripperella) that at some point diverges and makes one clearly porn and the other whatever Stripperella/Victoria's Secret/etc. is?

Now that I think about this I guess it is the difference between the EROTIC and PORN.

Yeah, I think that is probably a closer understanding. My point before was that your previous post implied that guys watch this for the same reason as porn, which I interpreted as hard core porn.

This is exactly it, at least for me.
