Why, God? Why? (The worst shows on television)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

So we know what everyone likes, so I thought I'd start a thread and see what people's LEAST favorite shows are...I don't want to spoil all the fun so I will just submit one entry:

Mad TV...why, god? why is this show still on television? I'm always tempted to give it a chance because I love sketch comedy (and because I like Artie Lange on Howard Stern), but I find myself watching skit after skit without finding a single thing funny!

hmmmm I like Mad TV.... I find it funnier than SNL.

Agreed...but it is an acquired taste like drinking beer or coffee...

Fear Factor and talk shows.

MadTV has been consistently funnier than SNL, though that's not saying much. SNL's been getting by on reputation alone for more than a decade. MadTV started out really bad this season, reminding me of SNL. Last weeks episode was much improved, so there's still hope.

CSI Miami

Least Favorite? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Anyway, I don't know what my least favorite shows are. I don't watch them. :D

Mad TV is one of our favorites too, at least up until the last season or two. It definitely has more of the edge that SNL gave up years ago.

I hated CSI, but I can see why people like it. My biggest "I don't get it" show at the moment is probably Two and a Half Men. The characters are unlikeable and forgettable, the writing is hackneyed, the acting is amateurish, and Charlie Sheen has that giant glue-on chin thing going.

I guess I'm really trying to get at those shows you love to hate.

I'm right there with CSI:Anything, Law & Order:Anything, etc. I don't get the omnipresence of the crime drama genre on network TV.

For me, it is Everybody Loves Raymond.

I think the characters are just flat out mean to each other. They don't show any love, affection, or remorse. I don't think they are funny. And I think Ray is an absolute jerk for refusing to stand up to his mother when she is constantly berating his wife.

Thats Easy.... Friends and also Everyone love Raymond.

I love fear factor. It reminds me of an old show I watched as a kid, where people did all sorts of stuff for money.

Not to mention that I was a Joe Rogan fan since the News Radio days.

All reality shows.

I would say Friends, but this is it's last season and I am curious how it ends.

Buffy and Angel. Both are 1/2 soap opera & 1/2 Power Rangers.

Well said! I think this is the meanest and worst show on television today, even worse than reality shows.

Well, I pretty much like everything that's already been mentioned here, except Mad TV, which I don't love to hate, I just hate it.

So I'll have to say I really don't care for Angel or Buffy or shows in that vein, but other people like them so I generally keep my mouth shut about it.

I'll just say reality shows, excepting American Idol.

Especially any dating, faux dating, engagement, and faux engagement nonsense.

I also like Mad TV. I generally find it funnier than SNL.

I'll add daytime soaps to the list. When I first got my tivo, it recorded some of them as suggestions. I decided to give them a try out of fairness, instead of automatically thumbing down and deleting. It was painful, and I couldn't get more than a few minutes into any of them.

No matter how much I hate the dating reality shows and a lot of sitcoms, I don't think any of them are as bad as daytime soaps. IMHO, of course.

Friends. I just don't get it. It's not funy. I for one will be glad when it's gone.

I hate all non-reality shows.

Off the top of my head...Surreal Life

Everyone loves Raymond

ANY "reality" show, whether it's Survivor, Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, Bachelor, The Simple Life, Fear Factor or whatever that one is they're hyping on SciFi about regular people living with a bunch of freaks. Also, ANY show on designing, decorating, cleaning, buying or re-building somebody's house (which just about kills HGTV for me). Also (and this really puts me in the minority), the vast majority of professional sports. I can stand to watch a little golf now and then because I play it and have the stupid and absolutely unrealisty fantasy that, if I just practiced enough, I could do what they're doing. And last, any religious broadcasts that feature requests for money. Most of them strike me as an embarassment to whatever relgion they're allegedly hawking.

But that's just my tastes. If they only broadcast stuff I liked to watch, they're wouldn't be enough to fill primetime with even a single channel.

It's not so much that I hate a given show as it's just that any given show that I probably have a lot of distaste for is one that's about the 27th copy/ripoff of some new, innovative idea.

This weekend I've started to notice I'm getting a bit tired of the proliferation of crime-themed dramas, for instance. I tired of reality shows a long, long time ago for the same reason; they're not new... and they're not even close to reality anymore.

Not that it matters much because I know how to change the channel to something I like :) but:

Any of the "Reality" shows.
