24...is it too late to start watching?

I have never watched 24, because I wasn't home those nights. However, now that I have a TiVo, I am obviously able to watch it. I've also noticed that many people seem to rate it as a top show.

My question to those people then, is: is it too late to start watching the show now, or is it easy enough to catch up on an ep-by-ep basis?

if you start watching this season, you'll probably have no idea why so many people like(d) it. I'd advise not to.

This season has been a little off, to me anyway. Go rent the first season on DVD and see if you like it, if so then get S2 (I thought S2 was good).

I concur w/those who feel it's "a little off" this season. I'm only watching because I've "invested" so much time in the franchise already. I find myself going through some scenes at a click or two. At least blondie's role is greatly reduced this year.

Yep, go watch the first season and then you'll be hooked. I rented 1st and 2nd seasons and it was great watching 2 or 3 episodes in a row because you get hooked. Now, I have to watch it on tv and wait a week or two + this season isn't that great compared to the last two. I too have "invested" time and feel the need to watch this season.

Yes... Rent or buy seasons 1 and 2...you won't regret it...

Then wait until they run the 24 Season 3 as a marathon on FX (I think it's FX, right?)...

You really could start watching now. All of the original plot lines and characters have been killed off. The first half of the season has been a waste in terms of plot and character development. I guess they're making it up as they go along.

Put me down as another who is majorly disappointed in this season. I watched the first 2 on DVD and did so in mini-marathons. But this season has been so bad I doubt that if I could, I would have watched multiple shows back to back. I just find myself not caring. I'll finish the season because with TiVo it's only a 40 minute investment of time, but I sure miss the old 24 (and XFiles and Buffy).

I'll just reiterate what everybody else said. The first season of 24 is breathtaking, so get that and watch it. That'll hook you enough so you can get through the okay 2nd season, and this boring 3rd season.
