Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
My job is to say chevron 1 encoded, chevron 2 encoded.

I loved that... a friend of mine is always asking what that guy does other then say that and "Unscheduled offworld activation!" LOL!
"... and just to change things up I say "Cevron Seven Locked"."
The other best line of the show was ".. okay, away from the face, big guy." KERRRRZAPPPP!"
He's another one of those characters you don't know what he does other then get run down by Daniel in the halls or get hit with something or someone.
I think this was a great insiders episode with this sort of stuff, great little lines.
I have a dislike of the actor playing the director of the documentary to start with so I didn't care for him but it was fun to see everyone give him a hard time.
I'll give fair warning to everyone: The descriptions and a lot of information is going around about next week's episode. If you are a fan of the show, AVOID ALL SPOILERS and the previews and descriptions of the episode.
Please. You will be glad you did.

I'll ditto that about avoiding spoilers. I accidently ran into one last week. :(

Well, you might be happy you avoided the spoilers, but dollars to donuts you won't be happy when you finally see next week's show ... I know I'm majorly bummed about it. :(
Back to last night's show: Is there anything going on between RDA and Mary McDonnell? He mentioned her name quite a bit.

Already saw it but it's better to see it not knowing and not being sure of exactly what is or might be happening. it's a surprise for sure
It was Mary Steenburgen and I guess it just sounded funny-----

I never had a problem with Spoilers. I guess it cames from my youth when movie goers was allowed to come in on the middle of a movie and stay for the next showing.
I guess a poll is in order to see how many people can't enjoy a movie or a book or a Tv show it they found out one small small small bit about it beforehand by accident;)

Sigh, another episode that really blew. I'm guessing when O'Neal gets hit by a staff weapon they showed in the previews he's wearing that new flack jacket they demo'ed.

Experiencing a story without knowing what happens at the end can only be done on the first reading/viewing. You get one chance.
You can always read/watch something a second time if you want to enjoy the story while knowing what the end is.
Both ways of reading / viewing are fun, but they are different kinds of fun. Some of us like both. If you know too much, you never get the first type of experience, only the second kind.

I completely agree with this. I was spoiled for the entire 6th season of Buffy, and while there were a lot of reasons not to be, I think that the spoilers were a big part of the reason I wasn't excited to watch the show. I was also spoiled for Stargate SG-1 that same corresponding season, and didn't enjoy or look forward to the show as much. I can get into the story more and "suspend my disbelief" more when I don't know what's going to happen. Makes me more off guard to the cliffhanger.
That being said, I think I can tell from this week's episode who's going to die, and if it's who I think it is, I'm going to be terribly sad about it...much sadder than if I already knew :)

Two things, first of all it was weird seeing Jayne from Firefly (Adam Baldwin) leading SG-13.
Second, was it just me or did the scientist guy on SG-13 pull out a GPS receiver and look at in just after exiting the wormhole? GPS receiver wouldn't be much use to you on another planet :)

I really liked the dynamic between SG-13 members. Gems like that is why I started watching the show.

I have read books where the author revealed early on that someone was going to die, but you had to wait until the event actually happened in order to find out who it was. There was plenty of dramatic tension in the story.
The big difference is, the person telling the story got to make that decision about what to reveal and when, and structure the story accordingly.
I too have come into the middle of a show or movie and had to watch it all the way around to the beginning and end again as jones07 describes. But it's not my preferred viewing experience for seeing things the first time.

Please spoiler tag your comments about previews!

This was not a spoiler merely a guess. These "previews" have been aired by Scifi.

Yes, but some people work hard to avoid even the previews. And if you're right it might as well have been a spolier.

Here we go again... Spoilers about a current episode are fair game, but it is the clear policy of this forum not to discuss previews. As Airlie says, there are people who go out of their way to avoid previews. Personally, I watch them, but I respect the wishes of those who don't.

That's actually not true. It is far from clear. Every time the issue comes up, it is hotly debated, but never resolved, because some people seem incapable of understanding that the previews are shown as part of the current episode, and thus are obviously fair game. :D

The difficulty in resolving this issue has nothing to do with logic and rules -- it's simply the difficult task of having respect for other people whom you can't actually see.
People who think previews of next week's show are fair game for discussion about this week's show lose little if previews are not discussed.
People who think previews of next week's show are NOT fair game for discussion about this week's show lose greatly if they read an unspoilered preview.
To protect themselves from unspoilered previews, they have to stop reading the discussion threads. They lose the pleasure of reading other people's thoughts and the being part of an vibrant community. And the goup itself loses energy when members leave.
If when politely asked for, taking a few seconds to spoilerize a preview gets a person's dander up or is just too much trouble, they have made a concious and deliberate decision to go out of their way to deny simple respect and compassion for friendly strangers. Something they would most likely NOT do, if they were face-to-face with those same people.
There is no right or wrong in the differences of opinion on this issue, only in the consideration or lack thereof in how these differences affect the community and what is the course of action that enlivens us.

I thought it was in the faq now?

And this was an honest mistake for anyone who watched this episode. I put spoilers from the preview in my previous comments because the episode wasn't finished and they made suggestions about what might happen. I think it's less likely this situation would have come up in any case other than a 2-parter, because usually the preview is about a completely separate episode. It's been my experience that the SG-1 threads are very good about this.
Most folks were simply speculating about what was going to happen in the rest of the episode based on what happened in the first. Even if I *hadn't* seen the episode preview, Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
I'd have known Frazier was going to die because they were painting with the hero's brush more than ever before - she was the softness and heart of the team - the mother and comforter - they had to mention that for a reason, and when they mention it, it's never good.
People have to be free to speculate. Sometimes that inadvertently turns into spoilers, but rarely because someone's trying to be a jerk.

The FAQ just describes how to use the [spoiler] tag. Maybe you mean Phil's Posting Guidelines for the Now Playing Forum? That doesn't really address the topic of previews either, though.

Actually, it does... The first item says:

Also, some people avoid the previews for next week, so if a major plot point is given away there, please use spoilers!

I see that line in the first section of Phil's post but not in either of the forum FAQs.
