Is anyone using the Terk 44 clip on antenna with success?
I am in green/yellow section for local HD (close to major city).
A proper roof mounted antenna would be best, but my hunch is that the homeowners association would cry foul (town home community).

One of the many downsides to a clip on antenna, is that it is fairly directionaly.
Basically it can only get a signal that is comming from the same direction as the dish.
For example:
Assuming that your dish is mounted to a wall of your house.
The antenna would only be able to a clear signal from anything in front of your dish. The rest would have to go through your house, and with the electrical lines in your home, and building material, ect.... very little would get through.
It can't hurt to ask your association, as it is your right to recieve the free ota signal. They should have some provisions for it.

This was my experience with the Terk clip on also. I was only able to pull in signals from a couple of local stations and they weren't too clear. I got better results from using rabbit ears.

I Have one and it was a waste of money and effort (3 story town house). When the HDTV TiVo arrives I will switch to a channel master or something else.

One of the main downsides to the Terk clip-on antenna is that it isn't worth $5.

Most HOA's will allow you to mount a rooftop antenna if it isn't a huge monster atop a 50' mast. IIRC, FCC regulations require them to allow a dish up to 36" in diameter on a 12' mast, and usually HOA's will allow terrestrial antennas if they fit within these limits - which most do.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones (close to xmitters in Houston) and see local VHF's with a little snow, most UHF's fine, and major local HD signals just fine since the antenna's shape and size are tuned for higher frequencies where the local HD signals are located (UHF). I live in a ranch style home and wasn't crazy about running additional coax cable in the attic.

A good rule of thumb - if it's made by Terk, stay away from it.

I do and it works great. Yeah, I know, it is not cool to say that on this forum, but I bought it before I read all of the complaints about it. I can get every channel crystal clear in Cinci/Dayton area. I live about 30 miles from the Cinci towers, and 40 from the Dayton. Also, if you could draw a line from the Dayton signals, it would go right through my house, to the back of the dish. Cinci signals would be a 45 degree angle from the front of the dish. The only other comment, is that the first time I wired it wrong (have no idea of what I did) and I only got about two Cinci channels. Once I moved things around, everything came right up. Somehow I was not sending power to it from my receivers. Not saying to buy it if there are other options, I just seem to be one of the lucky ones.
