Alright, I know that this is outdate, and I should get current and get the new technology, but I'm cheap, and now I'm stumped.

I've been running my Daily Updates by connecting my Tivo to my computer through the serial ports. I know I have had it setup correctly as I've been using this method for over 1.5 years now. However, all of a sudden, it stopped working. I fiddled around, reinstalling and so forth, and i got it to update again. However, the next time it tried, it failed. And now I can't get it to get moving again. I've followed Otto's guide to a T. When I make a test call, I can see the TiVo attempting to connect to the internet (it appears on my computer as an "Unauthenticated User" making a connection) and some data is sent in both directions. However, it still ends up failing in the end and I can't get anything downloaded. Anyone have this problem and know how to remedy it? Please help. I have 2 days left on my program data and am getting desperate. I've gone over 3 years with TiVo and can't imagine going without it for even a single day.

Thanks in advance. I know there must be someone out there that still knows a thing or two about this.

*****UPDATE********
I have done a successful Test Call, but when I attempt to make the daily call, it still comes up unsuccesful.
