A while ago i tried to upgrade my tivo. I think i may have forgot to unmount the drive. Recently, when i try to reinstall xp, i get a unmountable boot volume error when i GO INTO XP SETUP. It happens after setup loads all the files to allow setup to run. if anyone has any help, please reply or email me.
btw- the error happens when i try to go to xp setup. This does not happen when i start the computer. i have seen a lot of posts at other sites on this. they are all about recieving this error when starting up xp normally. i recieve this when i try to install xp.
Thanks!!!!!

If XP is installed on NTFS then it would have mounted read-only and would not have been affected by your failure to unmount. Also, if you Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Linux would have unmounted everything before rebooting.
If you're on FAT and powered off rather than soft-reset then the filing system may be damaged. ScanDisk should be able to fix that.

mine is ntfs, and scan disk didnt work. it doesnt happen on a single hard drive. if i try to install xp on a different had drive, it does the same thing.
