OK - this has probably been covered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find the advice I need. Also, I've languished in TiVo automated Customer Service hell for long enough.

I'm having real problems with the daily program downloads. The TiVo connects fine and starts to download, but then just hangs, and the connection fails (I've tried manual connection multiple times and at different times of day - and night).

I have a Series 2 TiVo, connected to RCN broadband using wireless networking, and things were working perfectly until the end of Jan 2004, when the problem started happening. If I use the 'Test Connection' function, that works fine too, so I'm wondering if it's my TiVo, or something at TiVo "HQ"?

Anyone give me any help / suggestions?

Is it possible your Tivo is far enough from the wireless access point that it is not getting a good connection to the network? Do you do anything else through the Tivo's broadband connection (like get a bash prompt or use TivoWeb) to see if the connection is good? Did you add a new TV or some other video component which may be interfering with the wireless connection?

Would it be possible to hook the modem to a phone line and switch back to a dialup to see if the service call can be completed that way?

Nothing has actually changed physically between being able to use the wireless access, and it not working at all. Wireless signal strength is 90%. I used dial up, which works fine, but is a pain as I have to trail wires all over the place.

Also, this morning I was able to test the wireless connection (it worked) - this evening, not even that works.

Things seem to have gone downhill since the last Tivo service update - wonder if anyone else has been having the same problems.
