Everwood 2/23 - SPOILERS

There are not a lot of threads on this show but I thought this would be good time to summarize the season to this point.

The best storyline has been Amy and her family. They are doing a great job of showing her depression over losing Colin. Not just the cliche couple weeks of grieving then moving on. The actor who plays her father has been the best character this season, the way the family has handled her depression has been great.

The latest episode was really well done with her 'seeing' Colin at the party and the conversation they had. Hopefully it's not full closure for her, but will help her path.

The central character storylines were starting to bug me, I am glad Eprham and his college GF are over. Hopefully Andy and his GF are quits too. I like Nina better, even if they only stay friends.

I am surprised that there aren't more threads related to this show. Although Everwood may sound a bit cheesy, I really enjoy it every week. I like the fact that they take a chance with stories that many people looking for a standard family drama may not expect. I mean, where else can you see an eight year old hermaphrodite, a sixteen year old having "relations" with someone five years his senior, and a fairly important characters death; all in just 1.5 seasons!

I am definitely enjoying Amy's storyline this year. She is really going downhill fast, and it's an honest reaction to her situation. I don't think most shows would have taken this route, but it makes for a good drama.

I am also glad that they are rounding out Bright a bit more. He seemed very one-dimensional at first, but the actor who plays him does such a great job of breaking out of that stereotype. It is nice to see that the writers are giving him that chance.

Looking forward to next weeks episode already.

Before this last episode they had several that addressed "issues" and all the main characters in the show would experience the "issue." Such as having sex for the first time, or having your first fight with a girlfriend. While showing the same "issue" from varying perspectives is a good thing, I think it should have been done in separate shows. The coincidence was too unbelievable and made the shows a little boring since there was little story diversity.

I'm getting tired of Ephram's obvious puppy love. But, when I think about it, I realize someone at that age would 99% of the time act the same way, and be just as neurotic about it. ;) So while its annoying, its pretty realistic. And based on this last episode, I don't think its a foregone conclusion that this relationship is over.

I was hoping for more relationship interaction between Ephram and Amy, but its almost non-existent. I think Bright and Ephram's relationship is interesting, though I think it could be expanded on, we just get super-brief snippets, so it doesn't seem to have much depth to it.

I agree, I was commenting on that a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully they pull away from that strategy a bit. It is interesting to see how each of the characters reacts to the same situation, but it does take a bit away from the "reality" of the situations.
