Good episode. The keep pleasantly surprising me with the Seth/Summer storyline. Now the ryan/theresa storyline I could do without.

They did a report on the local news here about how people liked this show but were embarrassed to admit it. I kinda understood, though I'll tell people I like it.
Not sure what it is about this show, but it is a lot of fun to watch. The kid playing Seth is such fun to watch, and I've never been a big fan of Peter Gallagher but my opinion has changed. The Cohen family is fun to watch, because of the hijinks that go on, but also because it's a nice family structure... they all seem like a family that really cares about each other.
From the first episode to last night, I've really liked this show.
Has there been word that it's been picked up for next season?

Does anyone else see the similarity between Seth and X-Play's Adam Sessler, humor wise?
Teresa's psycho-second-choice boyfriend is a good replacement for Oliver. Having seen him play suicidal-weirdo boyfriend 'Gabe' on Six Feet Under, I know he can pull off the role. No wonder Ryan is brooding all the time - he always has to fight for his women.
The whole thing with Sandy and the DA's office looks promising. If Sandy keeps his principals, I can see the plotline having a dramatic impact on the show.
I was pleased that they avoided going down the path of having Marissa (or someone else) discover what was going on in the hotel room next door to Teresa. No doubt it was a setup to make the viewer expect that confrontation, but still...
"Luke, this is a booty call."

I thought it was a great episode. Good humor from Seth, brewing conflict with Ryan & Teresa, as well as with Caleb/Kirsten/Sandy, and it looks like it won't be long before Jimmy suspects what's going on with Julie and Luke.
I thought it was cool of Anna to give advice to both Seth and Summer on their relationship. Not sure why Summer spilled her guts to Anna though. Wouldn't she be more likely to do that with Marissa?
Glad to see Marissa getting the cold shoulder from Ryan. It's funny to see her pine for him and every time she makes an attempt to reconcile, something gets in the way.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Seth+Sandy= Comedy Gold.

I'm pretty sure it will get picked up, but I haven't heard one way or the other yet.
I do see a bit of Adam Sessler, but more so I think the writing more closely resembles The Gilmore Girls. Loreleii and Rory would totally fit into the dynamic on this show.
I'm not afraid to admit I love the O.C. or the Gilmore Girls.
There I said it.

Great ep with a bunch of different storylines developing. And I like all of them so far.
The Seth/Summer relationship is hilarious. I thought the ending was a bit corny but was funny how the guys just walked away not caring while the girls all wished it was them up there. One thing's for sure... Seth's stock just skyrocketed in that school.
Ryan/Teresa/Marissa/potentially crazy fiancee angle is nice. I like it a lot more than the Oliver fiasco. If only Marissa would move away then this storyline would be perfect. She just annoys me to no end now. And to think I thought she was the hottest thing going at the beginning. She's just ugly to me now.
Sandy's new angle looks promising. Plays against his principles and his relationship with his wife very well. BTW, whatever happened to that big lawsuit that was being filed against Caleb's company over that land? Did I miss something there?
My favorite has to be the Mrs. Robinson storyline... :) Cracks me up everytime they show them together. The "booty call" lines were classic.
I was worried about this show a couple of weeks ago. Looks like they are getting it together again and I'm happy now. :)

I think they found out that Caleb was doing something illegal to artificially under value the land or something, and so the lawsuit was dropped or won by Sandy or something to that affect. The gist is that Sandy came out ahead on that one.

Remember....Sandy "bought" the land back from Caleb for a $1. If I remember correctly Caleb's company hid the fact that the ground was unsafe to build on to increase the sales price.

Yes, the Newport Group (Caleb's co.) was trying to get the state to pay him big money to make the land an environmental protection site. Turns out the land was unsuitable to build on and was worthless as a building site, so Sandy worked some deal where the state bought the land from Caleb for $1 but he made Caleb look like the good guy for doing it.

Right, that was it.

Best line of the show has to be Seth to Ryan, " .. a romantic rhombus." That just cracked me up!

Julie: "Luke, this is a booty call"
Luke: Ginormous grin!
That was great.
If I equated OC to the stock market, it started out with a big bull market, when Oliver showed up it was 1929, and when Oliver left, dot com boom...
I could make a graph...
-smak-
ps. I had to go back twice to hear what Seth was saying. Mumbles a bit too much. Even summer said so.
Posted by: devdogaz
Yeah, I have heard a lot of people complain that Seth mumbles and I thought it was great that they made fun of it in the episode last night. This show is very good at making fun of itself. There was an ep where Russell Crowe was mentioned, and Ryan said he's not a big fan, too much brooding or somthing like that. There was an ep where Seth made fun of Sandy's eyebrows. Last night when Marissa said she was just going to be friends with Ryan, Summer said, "What are you gonna do? Lift weights and try on wife beaters?" It's great that this show doesn't take itself too seriously.

What was the 1987 dump?

Love this show.
The only thing that bothers me about the Caleb-Sandy brouhaha that's now brewing is why has it taken this many years for Caleb to try to blackmail Sandy into doing some dirty legal work? I mean, Kirsten's been vulnerable as Caleb's Number Two for how long? Is Caleb that slow on the uptake?

Caleb is a smart guy and I could see why he wouldn't want to take the chance on having Sandy turn on him unless he was really in trouble.

How old is the actress playing Theresa (Navi Rawat)? To me she looks so much older than the rest of the cast, but her character is only supposed to be 17. Maybe life in Chino ages people faster than OC? ;)

Perhaps the motivation behind just now getting around to doing that sort of thing is payback for the $1 land deal.

I was thinking the same thing! I pulled 27 out of the air... wonder if I'm close....
I love this show! I missed most of the original eps that started over the summer. Strange as it may seem, my MOM told me to watch this show... I thought, "Eh," but I've been proven wrong!
I still like Seth better with Anna - they just seem to be a better fit.

Don't get me wrong here, folks, I still love the show but I did not care for this episode at all.
I didn't like how it was edited and found much of the story and dialog weak, especially between Ryan and Eddie. Eddie looks like he's going to get confrontational, tells Ryan that he'll fight for Theresa, but then Eddie calmly puts his hand on Ryan's shoulder and meekly says, "Golly, guy, you sure do have a lot to think about on your drive home to see my fiance who ran out on me. Tell me what you decide, OK?"
I was also distracted by Sandy's hair - did he forget to wash it for the last few days?
The only good things for me were Sandy's involvement with Caleb and Julie's involvement with Luke. These look like good storylines going forward, but I have to reserve judgment on the upcoming love-rhombus.
Oh yeah, I also liked the song "gotta find my way back home, gotta find my way ..." So  for that.

Did anyone else notice there is only one more episode listed at http://www.tvtome.com/OC/eplist.html
?
So the season finale is the next episode and we're in limbo finding out if the show has been renewed or what?

Since sweeps are in Februrary we'll usually get a new epsidoe every week and then maybe one in March. After that, we'll get a boatload of repeats and pre-emptions until sweeps in May. I don't know how many episodes have run so far this season, but look to see at least 3-4 new ones in May would be my guess. Sometimes they'll sprinkle in one or two new ones in March and April, but mostly repeats.

That link shows 7 more episodes this season.

I agree. It appears as though The O.C. is back on track after the Oliver debacle.
My only issue at this point is that it is RYAN who is starting to irritate me, even moreso than Marisa, with his relationship decisions. I mean, his ex-girlfriend blows into town (clearly with a motive) and he's smitten with her after a few days?
Then, full well knowing the stunt she pulled on Eddie...why get involved in that AT ALL? Hasn't he had enough drama with women lately? Looks like he's taking no time in jumping right back in.

Good point - if he was a normal person. But having an anguished relationship allows him more time to brood!
