Jeopardy looks strange to me

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that Jeopardy looks strange lately? What I'm referring to specifically is the way the image 'bleeds' into itself when cutting from one shot to another. For instance, when the camera is looking at the whole board, then cuts to a clue, for nearly a second you can see the image of the board behind the clue fade away. And it's not just the fact that the image is present--it's as if the colors get screwed up somehow.
It's kind of hard to describe, but it's definitely new, and definitely hard to watch. At first I thought something might have been wrong with my TV, but rewinding and playing in slo-mo shows that the images are in the signal itself.
Perhaps it's a local thing? I'm watching over DirecTV's local for KABC 7 in Los Angeles.

I believe that is caused by overcompression of the signal.

The only problem I've had with Jeopardy recently, on the soundtrack there seems to be a constant morse code.

Oh, good, so I guess I can cancel that visit to the ophthalmologist, since I've been seeing the same thing in the same place. :D
I agree that it's somehow related to the DirecTV MPEG compression, since I often see the same thing happen on cuts from one camera to another while looking at the highly MPEG-compressed video I have to watch at work.

I'm betting that Sean Connery is somehow to blame. :)
