SOAK: ISP which doesn't require caller ID to be sent

I'm not sure whether anybody ever consults the UK Source Of All Knowledge (SOAK) but in the same principle as used in the happy hour I was wondering if anybody could help me out with this UK specific problem.
A friend of mine is currently living in hospital accomodation and has a phone line which allows external calls but only through a switchboard (a dial 9 thing).
She would like to use her laptop to check email etc. via this analogue switchboard phone line but can't use her normal 0845 ISP because the CLI details aren't available when she makes the call. Sticking 1470 in front of the number doesn't work either.
Does anybody here know of an ISP which allows you to call from lines where the CLI cannot be presented? Although a free one would be ideal - I suspect that there aren't going to be many of these around because they get abused by spammers etc. She's quite prepared to pay a small subscription charge but is only living there for a few months and so doesn't want to have to sign up to a 12 month contract.
I've heard that AOL allow you to withhold CLI (or not have it available in the first place) but I'd rather she didn't have to install a whole load of AOL junk on the laptop to make it work. Also I've read in a quick google groups search that AOL intend to stop allowing these calls soon.
Any ideas?

Try UK2Net (Tiscalli I think) on 08456091370
http://uk2.net/
Default details will connect and any login name and password will work.
Automan.

Okay.
1. Why didn't I think of them :(
2. I am not aware that we have a SOAK here in the UK, though I think that pgogborn might think he's it  :D
(Yes, pg, that was a joke! Note the smilies ;))

I'm afraid that pgogborn doesn't understand smilies. I'm sure that I could find plenty of quotes to support that comment, but I can't be bothered to search. :p

I use ClaraNet on my GSM phone!

Says you must use CLI in the Terms and conditions so please ignore this post.

One.Tel do a variety of packages including a simple 1.5p per minute one for the occasional user. They never used to be interested in CLI, not sure about now.

www.fireflyuk.net
They allow connection to their 0845 number without even an account.
From their web-site above:
Dial: 0845 604 1528
User : surf@fireflyuk.net
Pass : surf
I have caller-id witheld on my line and I could just connect.
All my other dial-in accounts require me to put a 1470 prefix to re-enable my caller-Id on connect.
Their monthly 0808 account doesn't require Id either but you have to sub for that obviously

You have already been given the perfect answer to your question, but here is an answer with a lot of ifs.
If your friend is mainly checking email rather than web surfing, is she has got the right sort of mobile phone, if the hospital allows her to use it (some hospitals are wary of em interference to hospital equipment), if she is not confined to bed and spends time in a garden, recreation area etc, consider dialing up from the laptop via the mobile rather than going through the hospital switchboard.
GSM modems can come up on ebay at around £10.
If you are interested in exploring such an option, this page seems to give some indications of ISPs you could use >

She's a doctor who's just started a new job in a new area and so is living in hospital accomodation until her house sells. She can use a mobile phone in her room and is currently checking email occasionally via her mobile.
Thanks to everybody for the suggestions, I'll try some of them out. That firefly one really surprises me, it seems an obvious dialup for spammers etc.
Thanks for the info about GSM friendly ISPs - it could be useful for configuring my own laptop/mobile setup.

This is a case where the greater the number of symptoms that are presented, the greater the number of possible cures - although as per my previous suggestion, there are a lot of ifs.
If procedures for such a request are not already in place, I doubt if they will be implemented by the time your friend buys a new house, but she could try asking if she could have Wi-Fi access to the presumably existing hospital network.
In general, responses to such requests depend on the competence / confidence / personality of whoever is in charge of network security.
However, to see what can happen if the network security people are incompetent, try entering warchalking into your favourite web search engine.
