Crossing Jordan Return Spoilers

According to TV Guide the focus of the show will shift from Jordan Cavnaugh's personal life to ripped-from-the-headlines stories. This is due to Jill Hennessey's curtialed work work schedule (due to her pregnancy and maternity leave for the birth of her child) which has also forced an ensemble-izing of the cast. Jennifer Finnigan ("The Bold and the Beautiful") joins the show as a pathology resident.
I guess I don't mind the switch. But only IF they totally clear up the storyline threads dealing with Jordan, her brother, her mother and the identity of her real dad. If not I'm going to be pissed.
I think I remeber reading an article where Finnigan talked about joining the show. And saying that she hadn't even met Hennessey yet during the filming of the first two shows because she was still out on maternity leave.

Are there any main characters who've left the show?

The TV Guide article listed the costars as:
Miguel Ferrer
Jerry O'Connell
Ivan Sergei
Jennifer Finnigan
Ferrer is the head guy at the coroners office and O'Connell of course is Woody. Sergei I'm not sure but I think he's the young guy that joined the staff last year. I wonder if they've phased out Bug and the other guy with the British accent. Hope they haven't. Those two really added a lot to the show. I read in another thread here on the forum that the guidance counselor lady is now on The Practice. And who knows about Jordan's dad, the bar owner I mean. Sorry I'm not better with the names but it's been too long on hiatus.

Why are they giving her so much time? She's had an unprecedented amount of time off and she's still not back to a full schedule? That's a pretty thin list of returning costars you listed. Losing people is just one of the problems with this situation. Do they want this show to die?

That's too bad-the two lab guys-Bug and Whatsisname-really added a lot to the show. Nice little humor outlet there.

There is a synopsis of the new episode "Devil May Care?" at
http://www.nbc.com/Crossing_Jordan/index.html
They list the stars in the episode as:
Miguel Ferrer (Macy)
Kathryn Hahn (I think she is the grief counselor)
Ravi Kapoor (I think this is Bug)
Ivan Sergei
Steve Valentine (this is the British accent dude)
And it indicates that Jill Hennessey has a storyline so she will be in the episode. Don't know what Finnigan meant when she said that Hennessey wasn't there for the filming of her first two episode. I don't see her name listed on this episode so maybe she doesn't come in until later in the season.

This is a show I started watching on some other network last summer and I kind of got into it. I thought it was cancelled so I was surprised to see it returning. I'm happy about it because you see Jill Hennesey.....she needs to be on my TV:) .

I actually heard Jill Hennessey say that they pre-shot six or so episodes at the end of last season, so the first episodes in this run will be from the previous season (sort of.) They filmed an additional run of shows in anticipation of her maternity leave-in fact, they filmed until she was 7 months pregnant.
So I'm thinking some of the old regulars may drop out after the first six episodes...which'll still make me sad.

It should make you happy to know that Jill has an identical twin sister.

Although I have yet to see any of the new episodes TV Guide is reporting that they have made no mention of Jordan's mother's murder case or the disappearance of her father. The Guide says that the mystery will be resolved later this year. And they gave it a Jeers saying that viewers shouldn't have to wait that long! And I agree. I suppose the show is waiting for May sweeps before they deal with this but at least they are going to deal with it.

Correct. No mention of the mother at all.
There was one scene with Jordan at her dad's bar. They spoke only briefly, and he alluded to her not yet wanting to talk to him.

Tonight's episode is the sixth of this season. I guess we'll see what (if any) changes were made next week. I agree, it would be sad to see some of these old friends go.

By the way, this show is scheduled to be back next season according to Zucker because it has performed very well. It might do a mid-season thing again, but that I am not sure.
