Marv Wolfman on why Enterprise is better than you think

OK, he's being sarcastic. But he might not be entirely wrong! From comic book legend Marv Wolfman's homepage:

STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE - THE TRUTH REVEALED AT LAST!

It's about time! I've been watching ENTERPRISE... I'm sorry, STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, since the beginning and I'd come to believe that nobody on the series had ever seen an episode of classic Trek. I mean, after the first half dozen episodes, which I did enjoy, they got everything wrong. And here I thought they didn't know any better. But now I know otherwise. I was watching this week's episode, plotted by Berman & Bragga but written by Manny Coto - who has done two really good scripts this season, - and T'Pol finally revealed what I'd been expecting ever since the first season when she first began acting like no Vulcan has ever acted before. That's because T'Pol is not Vulcan but a Romulan or at least a Romulan/Vulcan hybrid. That would explain everything.

I suspect in the next few weeks we'll begin to learn the truth. I mean, they haven't actually said she's Romulan, yet, but, boy, even Data could read between the lines. I also suspect that we'll soon realize that unlike what we've believed til now, Archer really isn't a dull, emotionally unstable frat boy who shouldn't even be on a Starship let alone Captain one, but has been pretending to be such to throw the enemy off balance. Let's face it, Starfleet wouldn't entrust their first Starship to such a wuss, even if his Dad did help invent warp drive or whatever. His erratic personality is actually a plot gimmick. And I never once suspected. Wow! They'll also soon reveal that the Doctor really isn't from another world but his home-spun charm and aw shucks attitiude will prove he orginally hails from Mayberry, but was surgically altered to fool the Vulcans (read: angry, jealous Romulans) into thinking Earthmen were putting aliens on board their ship Finally, Malcolm Reed, Trip and the other not actually nameless but they should be characters will even be given a personality that stays the same from episode to episode. Our heroes have been undercover for four seasons, playing dolts while secretly gathering intel. Brilliant stroke, guys.

So you see, despite all the evidence, Enterprise isn't nearly as bad as we've come to believe. They have been very carefully lying down clues which are going to turn the Star Trek franchise on its heels. I, for one, can't wait.

I've still got it as a season pass, but I don't know why. Sometimes it's not even watchable.

I have the entire season (thus far) still on my Now Playing list waiting to be seen and like you, I don't know why.
